General Situation:
Ambergris Caye: Conditions this morning by Elbert just before or after this post!
Belize NMS: Present Condition: Partly cloudy, mostly clear in the north. A relatively moist northeasterly airflow continues to dominate our weather. Advisories: None.
24-hour forecast: Sunny with a few cloudy spells today and partly cloudy tonight. A few showers or isolated thunderstorms will occur mostly over southern areas this morning and tonight and over inland areas this afternoon.

Outlook: Partly cloudy with only isolated showers during Saturday. Then some cloudy spells with a few showers, isolated thunderstorms or periods of rain mostly over northern and some coastal areas Saturday night.

The Caribbean Sea

There are two tropical waves moving across the basin. Latest scatterometer data depicts moderate trade winds across the east-central Caribbean and fresh to strong in the central Caribbean north of Colombia, with light NE winds elsewhere. Water vapor imagery show abundant dry air present across northern half of the region from the Lesser Antilles west to the Yucatan Channel, therefore, limited convection is noted across the region. South of 14N, some scattered showers and tstorms are seen in the SW Caribbean Sea near the Pacific monsoon trough and the tropical waves. Scattered showers are also noted in the Gulf of Honduras.

Fresh to strong trades and building seas are expected in tropical Atlantic waters and across the south-central Caribbean through Sat as high pressure strengthens north of the area. Seas are forecast to build up to 9 or 10 ft. Winds and seas will diminish across the region Sat into Mon.

On Ambergris Caye this morning the wind is at 12 mph from the North creating a calm sea condition around our barrier reef. It's sunny and the expected high temperature for the day is in the mid 80's.

The Caribbean winds have shifted back to coming from the NE causing a lot cloud over Guatamala, Honduras and central Belize. This is causing a line of swellups and rain, along the Honduras coast, and a small swellup off Dangriga area and some rain. Yet parts of north Belize and southern Belize have some sunshine.

Looks like another mixed day, fog and overcast in central areas, with some isolated rain showers, sunshine in parts at times but the ever present chance of rain, particularly in the south this morning and anywhere later.

Looking at the type of cloud over Mexico and northern Belize now, there is clearly a cold front air moving down from then north.

Present Condition: Sunny in the north, cloudy in the south. Skies will be sunny with some cloudy spells during the daytime and cloudy at times tonight. A few showers or isolated thunderstorms will occur mostly over inland areas this afternoon, then mainly over southern and coastal areas tonight decreasing tomorrow morning.

A cold front is bringing lots of rain to the Gulf Coast. A tropic wave is in the central Caribbean. Both will meet on the east and west side of Belize this weekend. A small storm cell moving south from Cuba right now to the central Caribbean. Forecast for tomorrow and the weekend is mostly clear.
