General Situation:
Ambergris Caye: Conditions this morning by Elbert just before or after this post!
Belize NMS: Present Condition: Clear skies. A light northerly airflow continues to dominate our weather. Advisories: None.
24-hour forecast: Mostly sunny with only isolated showers today, becoming cloudy at times tonight with a few showers, isolated thunderstorms or periods of rain mostly over the sea and along some coastal areas.

Outlook: Some cloudy spells with a few showers, isolated thunderstorms or periods of rain mostly over northern and inland areas during Wednesday, then over the south and coast Wednesday night.

The Caribbean Sea

There are two tropical waves moving across the basin. A surface trough extends from the Atlantic through the Windward Passage. Scattered moderate convection is prevailing over the SW Caribbean south of 10N due to the EPAC monsoon trough. Scatterometer and buoy observations indicate gentle to moderate tradewinds prevail over the west Caribbean, while moderate easterly winds prevail over the eastern half of the basin.

Several weak tropical waves will traverse the Carribbean this week with little influence on the weather. Weak pressure gradient across the basin will lead to generally moderate winds. Northeasterly swell may impact Atlantic waters Fri into the weekend.

On Ambergris Caye the breeze is from the North at 6 mph making a flat calm sea state around our barrier reef. The sky is clear and day sunny. High temperature for the day is expected to be in the upper 80's.

The cool air continues to come down from the north, holding the Caribbean air over the sea, where the clash continues to cause off shore rain showers, the surface wind is from the SW. Presently most of the country has near clear skies, but there is fog or low flying cloud over the mountains.

Looks like much of today will be sunny, keeping temperatures up above the seasonal normal, ther could be some rain showers developing this afternoon in the south.

There are a few small rain showers now developing in a few parts of central Belize, particularly the mountains. I suspect more later this afternoon. The cool winds are now strong from the WNW.
