Belize NMS: Present Condition: Hot and sunny. Dry, hot and hazy conditions prevail over our area.
Advisories: *Residents, especially those residing in the interior of the country, are advised to remain hydrated and seek shelter from direct sunlight as much as possible. Also the risk for bush and forest fires remains high.*
24-hour forecast: Mostly sunny, hot and hazy today, then clear to partly cloudy and warm tonight. Little or no rainfall is expected, except for the slight chance of an isolated thunderstorm over the mountains.

The Caribbean Sea

A surface ridge extends from near 24N60W to Cuba. Overnight scatterometer data revealed moderate to fresh trade winds across the eastern Caribbean east of 75W. Mainly fresh east to southeast trade winds are in the Gulf of Honduras and in the south-central Caribbean section. Moderate winds are elsewhere. Aside from isolated showers over the Leeward Islands, most of the basin is dry due to strong subsidence from persistent deep-layer ridging.

The forecast calls for the fresh trade winds in the south- central Caribbean and in the Gulf of Honduras to increase to strong speeds at night through Wed night, then change little through Sat as stronger high pressure builds north of the area. Elsewhere, gentle to moderate trade winds will increase to moderate to fresh speeds beginning on Thu and continue through Sat. The fresh trade winds in the eastern Caribbean will change little through the end of the week.

What ever it is moving slowly down from the north over the Yucatan, has virtually stopped the easterly Caribbean winds. Significant fog over much of central Belize this morning, and smoke stuff everywhere.

Looks like another hot muggy day, do rain expected.

What was the date last year for the first downpour?

In Belmopan, typically rains start in the last week of May sort of 21 May to 05 Jun, but actually very erratic.
Some years they start, then stop for another two weeks. The start with heavy rain, is not necessarily the same in different parts of central Belize, let alone other areas of Belize.

Here's the dates for the first downpour in Belmopan over the last few years.
