Potential Tropical Cyclone 9 continues to strengthen and become more organized in the southern Atlantic this evening. PTC 9 is currently approximately 235 miles southeast of the Leeward Islands and is traveling west-northwest at 25 mph. Additional organization and strengthening is likely tonight, and PTC 9 is expected to become Tropical Storm Isaias overnight.

The track has shifted further south from that of the 5pm yesterday, Still, Potential Tropical Cyclone NINE is likely to bring gusty winds, heavy showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Leeward and Virgin Islands today and tonight.

From here, the present advisory puts the centre of PTC-NINE to track about 25 miles SW of Les Saintes then about 95 miles SW of Antigua, 65 miles SW of Montserrat, 85 miles SW of Nevis, and 95 miles SW of St Kitts by 2pm today. The centre should continue west-northwestward to about 65 miles SW of St Croix by 6 pm this afternoon. Winds are forecast to remain between 50 and 60 mph sustained and between 65 and 70 mph gusts Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 275 miles primarily to the NE of the centre which means ALL of the Leeward and Virgin islands should experience tropical-storm-force winds sometime today.

We are getting into very different weather, although it might not be noticed. The easterly Caribbean winds are typical and strong, but the high level, is now streaming up from the south, although circling with some high level south of Toledo, which is causing some rain in the south. Not clear yet, how this might pan out. the Sun is on its way back from the north and at midday, is already, almost vertically over Belize.

Looks as if today will again be mainly sunny, with significant clouds and a chance of rain in southern areas.
