Re: Belize Weather Forecast: August 2, 2020 - 08/02/20 12:22 PM

Tropical Storm Isaias

The Hurricane Warning along the east coast of Florida has been replaced with a Tropical Storm Warning.

The burst of deep convection that developed to the northeast of the center last evening has not resulted in any significant improvement in the structure of Isaias according to recent reconnaissance aircraft data and radar imagery. The tropical cyclone is still being adversely affected by about 25 kt of 850-200 mb vertical wind shear.

Since Isaias has not shown any signs of re-organizing overnight, it appears that the window of opportunity for it to re-strengthen is closing. The SHIPS guidance and global model fields do not show the shear abating during the next 24-36 hours while Isaias moves near the Florida coast. As a result, the new NHC intensity forecast shows little change in strength during this time. Later in the period, gradual weakening should occur as the storm moves northward along the east coast of the United States.

Invest 94L

Showers and thunderstorms associated with INVEST 94L have slowly become better organized, Although the disturbance does not appear to be very well defined at the surface at this time, environmental conditions are forecast to be conducive for some additional development for the next few days, and a tropical depression could form early next week.

As you will be aware, we are in the middle of activity. Slow Caribbean winds from the north, but a fair amount of higher level winds from the SE causing quite a few swellups and rain areas, mainly in central and coastal northern areas. But there is cloud over most of southern Belize, but perhaps now rain there.

Looks as if today will be cloudy, heavy cloud in central and northern parts for most of the morning, with rain in many places, cloud elsewhere, with some sunshine patches.

Temperatures in Belmopan : ( Coast usually cooler, hills even cooler )
Last night min. 28C 83F Yesterday max. 34C 94F Yesterday Rain 0 mm ( 0")

Re: Belize Weather Forecast: August 2, 2020 - 08/02/20 06:06 PM

Looks like the heavy cloud and swellups, some with rain, will continue in the north for another few hours.
Heavy cloud developing over the mountains and south, might result in some rain later this afternoon.

Present Condition: Wind and rain in the north. Relatively moist and unstable conditions prevail.
24hr Forecast: Some cloudy spells with a few showers and isolated thunderstorms mostly over northern areas this afternoon, moving inland and over some southern areas later this evening.
