Invest 97L

We are watching the possible development of 97L into a TROPICAL DEPRESSION or TROPICAL STORM, to be named Laura or Marco, by or on August 21/22, 2020.

All people/friends in Jamaica + Cayman Islands + Honduras + Nicaragua + Belize + the Yucatan peninsula of Mexico, including Cozumel and Cancun, should closely monitor the track and intensity of 97L, thinking about how you will PREPARE / SHELTER / EVACUATE from possible impacts including and or a possible LANDFALL thru this weekend, August 19-23, 2020.

Re: Belize Weather Forecast: August 20, 2020 - 08/20/20 01:55 PM

Relatively clear skies over Belize this morning, some high cloud and fog in central Belize. there is virtually no Caribbean east winds, probably due to that hurricane in the Pacific. But that non-storm activity in the Caribbean INVEST 97L is coming our way with a lot of swellups and rain, not sure yet, when it will get to Belize, possibly tonight, more likely tomorrow Friday. It appears to be a collection of many swellups, no rotation so not a tropical storm, but swellup rain can have strong winds under them.

Looks like today will start sunny, after the fog has burnt off, then normal clouds developing later this morning, a small chance of some rain later, particularly in the south. Then heavy cloud and rain late this afternoon, evening or night.

Re: Belize Weather Forecast: August 20, 2020 - 08/20/20 06:03 PM

The cloud has been developing as expected, the easterly Caribbean winds are starting up as expected. The cloud from that INVEST 97L is now getting into Honduras, and the weather people are now calling it Tropical Depression 14.. . So it looks as if the heavier cloud is likely to get to Belize later this afternoon / evening, with rain later.
