Belize NMS: Present Condition: Cloudy this morning. Warm, relatively moist and unstable conditions continue over the country.
Advisories: *Residents, especially those inland, are advised to stay hydrated and to avoid direct sunlight as much as possible.*
24-hour forecast: Sunny with some cloudy spells today and cloudy at times tonight. A few showers and isolated thunderstorms will develop inland this afternoon then over the southern districts tonight, while being isolated elsewhere.

Outlook: A few cloudy spells with isolated showers and thunderstorms, mostly inland on Thursday and over the south Thursday night.
Sargassum Forecast from September 15, 2020 to September 22, 2020: There is a small chance that a few sargassum mats could drift into local beaches in the coming days with minor to moderate impacts. San Pedro has a low probability and a moderate expected impact.
Tropical Weather Outlook: At 3:00am Hurricane Teddy was centred near latitude 15.8N, longitude 49.0W or about 820 miles east of the Lesser Antilles. Hurricane Sally was centered near latitude 30.1N, longitude 87.7W, or about 50 miles SSE of Mobile, Alabama. Tropical Storm Vicky was located near 21.6N and 33.9W or about 755 miles WNW of the Cabo Verde Islands. Hurricane Paulette was centered near latitude 41.9N, longitude 49.1W, or about 385 miles SSE of Cape Race, Newfoundland. Marine Conditions:

The Caribbean Sea

An upper level inverted trough extends from Hispaniola into the SW corner of the Caribbean Sea. Isolated moderate convection covers the Caribbean Sea from 13N northward from 70W westward.

The monsoon trough is along 09N/11N, from 73W in northern Colombia to beyond southern Costa Rica, into the eastern Pacific Ocean. Scattered moderate isolated strong convection is noted south of 13N and west of 76W.

Hurricane Teddy near 15.8N 49.0W 976 mb at 5 AM EDT moving NW at 10 kt. Maximum sustained winds 85 kt gusts 105 kt. Large NE swell from Teddy will impact the west-central Atlantic waters through the end of the weekend. Elsewhere, a relatively weak pressure pattern will maintain gentle to moderate trades through late week, with fresh trades pulsing over the south-central Caribbean.

The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on Hurricane Paulette, located several hundred miles south of Cape Race, Newfoundland, on Hurricane Sally, centered near the northern Gulf coast, on Tropical Storm Teddy, located over the central tropical Atlantic, and on Tropical Storm Vicky, located over the eastern tropical Atlantic.

Hurricane Sally has made landfall in Alabama as a Category 2 hurricane with 105 mph winds. Sally landfall was in Gulf Shores, Alabama at 4:45 AM local time, September 16.

An area of low pressure over the southwestern Gulf of Mexico is producing showers and thunderstorms that are showing some signs of organization Upper-level winds are forecast to gradually become more conducive for development, and a tropical depression could form late this week while the low meanders over the southern Gulf of Mexico for the next several days.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...20 percent.
* Formation chance through 5 days...medium...40 percent.

Showers and thunderstorms associated with an area of low pressure located a few hundred miles south-southeast of the Cabo Verde Islands have changed little during the past several hours. Environmental conditions are conducive for development of this system, however, and a tropical depression is likely to form during the next few days while the system moves generally westward at 10 to 15 mph.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...medium...50 percent.
* Formation chance through 5 days...high...70 percent.

A non-tropical area of low pressure is located over the far northeastern Atlantic Ocean a few hundred miles northeast of the Azores. This system could acquire some subtropical characteristics while it moves southeastward and eastward at about 10 mph during the next few days. Not a lot happening around us at present. The light Caribbean winds are from the south, there is thin high level from the NE
That HURRICANE SALLY has finally gone ashore, but now only as a Tropical Storm, was hanging around in the almost same location now for 2 - 3 days, not nice for those folks under it.

Looks as if this morning will be mainly sunny, with thin cloud, but swellups and rain may well happen this afternoon.
