For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:

There are currently no organized tropical features in the Atlantic basin, and none are expected to develop through at least the next couple of days. These quieter conditions may not last much longer.

While there are still no tropical systems across the Atlantic basin and none are expected to develop through the beginning of next week, we continue to keep an eye on the Gulf of Mexico for tropical development later in the week.

A broad area of rotation in the midlevels, sometimes called a gyre, has formed and is enhancing thunderstorm activity from the southern Gulf of Mexico to the waters of the eastern Pacific, just along the southern coast of Mexico. As of now, the threat of development through the weekend appears to be over the Eastern Pacific Ocean near the coast of southern Mexico, but the disturbance in the eastern Pacific is expected to drift to the north and into the southern Gulf of Mexico around the middle of next week. This is when the concern for development will increase across the Gulf.

Through the weekend and early next week, much of southern Mexico and northern Central America can have heavy downpours and flooding, regardless of whether or not a tropical system forms.

The National Hurricane Center has begun to officially monitor the low pressure area that could form near Campeche or within the Gulf of Mexico.

Regardless of possible development or not, this system could produce heavy rains in that nearby Yucatn and other parts of Mexico.

Residents in these adjacent areas and areas should be on the lookout.

For the next 48 hours, we have a 90% chance of formation of tropical depression over the Pacific and 80% in the Gulf of Mexico.

Another tropical wave is coming from the Caribbean.

As mentioned yesterday, the general ITCZ activity is in our area of Central America, and this morning there are 3 large areas of swellups, the largest is out at sea off Stann Creak area, causing a lot of heavy rain areas, some on land. Much of southern coastal areas have significant rain this morning. The rain Radar is rather old, not presently updating. It looked as if some Guatamala rain might be moving in towards southern belize, not sure yet. At present the northern offshore swellup is not causing much rain.

Looks as if today will be mainly rather cloudy, with patches and areas of rain this morning, more so in the south, but could be anywhere later.

Looks as if the rain is clearing up. The high level clouds appear to be thinning and not causing swellups.

Bridge closed to trucks, taxisjust one way golf cart now. It's a TIGHT squeeze!
For those who have been away: since April 2020- no tolls. The booth removed late 2020. I wonder if this is permanent.
Repairs happening!
