San Pedro Pirates F.C fall 4-0 against Mexico's Atlante F.C
Football fanatics in San Pedro Town flocked the Ambergris Stadium on Saturday, September 7th to attend the international friendly match between the current national champions, San Pedro Pirates and the Mexican football club Atlante. The visiting team, hailing from Cancun, Mexico, overcame the island team, dominating most of the game and taking back home the 4-0 victory.

Destinee Arnold will represent Belize at Miss Universe 2019
Roaring Creek's 26-year-old Destinee Dominique Arnold became the new Miss Universe Belize 2019-2020 on Friday, September 6th in Belize City. Destinee ArnoldThe pageant to select Belize's beauty ambassador was held inside the Civic Centre and saw Arnold besting seven other candidates: Destiny Wagner, Markeisha Young, Ryeann Smith, Aarti Sooknandan, Tianney Lamb, Josselyn Cerin and San Pedro's very own Vivian Noralez. Arnold is the 30th Belizean woman to represent the Jewel in the international Miss Universe beauty pageant, which is taking place in Seoul, South Korea in December of this year.

Miss San Pedro Coronation & Battle Of St. George's Caye Day Celebration
Litzy was joined on stage by the other four Miss San Pedro contestants along with Mayor Daniel Guerrero and councilors. They then led the parade from the Sports Field to Boca Del Rio Park followed by Minister Manuel Heredia, Mayor Daniel Guerrero the San Pedro Town Council staff, followed by the many schools of San Pedro including ABC Pre-School, Brighter Tomorrow Pre-School, Little Angels Pre-School, San Pedro Pre-School, The Island Academy, San Pedro RC School, Ambergris Caye Elementary School, Isla Bonita Elementary School, New Horizons SDA School, Holy Cross Anglican School and the San Pedro High School.

The Belize Network of NGOs (BNN) hereby announces the following new appointments:
Dr. Oxaku Tehu Kax'Oxo II (Tropical Rainforest Institute of Belize) has been selected to be BNN's representative on the University of Belize Board of Trustees for a period of three (3) years. Dr. Kax'Oxo II was born in Washington DC and is a Belizean citizen. His father is from Sierra Leone and his mother is a Cayetano from Stann Creek. He lives in Cristo Rey, Cayo. Valdemar Andrade (Turneffe Atoll Sustainability Association) will represent BNN on the REDD+ Readiness Preparation Project Technical Expert Group. The REDD+ Project will assist Belize to prepare to participate in future REDD+ carbon payment transactions, through a participatory and inclusive process. Project implementation began in early 2017 and will conclude on December 31, 2020.

A body has been found miles off the area of San Lorenzo Road
The body is believed to be that of Christopher Chi, the fourteen year old minor who went missing on Friday September 6th at around 5:00 pm from Yo Creek, Orange Walk District. The minor was last seen in the company of an individual on a motorcycle believed to be his friend. While we understand police has interviewed this individual, he has denied the allegations of being with the victim. We will more on this story on Wednesday's newscast.

New River Boat Trip 7th September 2019
I was invited by Friends of the New River (FNR) to go on a boat trip with them and the Department of Environment (DoE) on Saturday 7th September 2019 to observe the state of the New River, and after the boat trip attend a meeting where remediation options would be presented. This is a factual record of that trip.

Corozal Town Council Held their Coronation and Ceremony this morning in front of Central Park. Then, the 10th Parade was held after the Ceremony in Corozal. Lots of people came out to enjoy this event.

Body of missing minor found
The Jasmine Alert program issued a statement a short while ago notifying the public that the body of missing minor, Christopher Chi has been found. The family and residents had organized a search party and discovered the body. [�]

Belize marks 221st anniversary of Battle of St. George's Caye
This day, acknowledges Belize City Mayor Bernard Wagner, is unlike any other. The naval engagement commemorated this morning as it has been for 221 years, he said, was the start of an even bigger fight for our society. [�]
