[Linked Image]On the matter of impending elections, P.U.P. Leader John Briceo says that this year's General Election is probably the most important election since 1979. In November, the U.D.P. will either win a historic fourth consecutive term or the P.U.P. will form the government under Briceo. But with the COVID-19 pandemic still lingering and the economic downturn hitting businesses hard, this year's elections will be much different. The Elections and Boundaries Department is currently preparing for that day and Briceo anticipates that the turnout will be high.

John Briceo, Leader of the Opposition

"I do believe that people will come out. They will certainly come out lot more than the thirty-eight percent that Jamaica had but it important to point out that in 2016 Jamaica only had about forty-seven percent turned and we had in the high seventies. So we are far different tht Jamaica. So I do expect a turn out in probably in the high seventies, in some instances in the low eighties. But we do have to be very, very careful. We have to ensure that we are not crowding out there as we sally do. We have to ensure that we keep our masks and that we are cleaning our hand regularly, that we are doing the social distancing when we go and vote. We just have to ask people to please be careful. But this election like every election is important but this one in particular is probably the most important elections since coming to independence in 1979."
