Mexicana, you can be the newbie greeter.

I always thought this board ( or any board ) needed someone to say hello to new folks and give them a welcome.

It's difficult to start a conversation or ask questions when you are new.

Nygal, I'm having second thoughts about greeting new folks frown I was thinking that variety is the spice of life, so why aren't the new people posting anything? confused Maybe a greeting would bring some out of the woodwork a little earlier, but then again maybe not?
Thanks for the vote of confidence wink

Porque todo los gringos les gustan mucho palabras malas?? Just wondering? It's like the one word everyone learns is the "bad" name-calling word...why is that?

Re: NAZ beinvenidos!! - 12/21/02 02:05 PM

LOL...because it's also one of those words people just love to say. It just rolls off your tongue and it's easy to say with emphasis. wink

Mexicana,
No necesitar lo siento. Yo tenga problemas con mujueres porque yo tenga muchas cortesias, yo soy alegra y abri mi corazon siempre.
I am sorry if I sound paranoid about the photos. I was not quite sure what you meant. Although I have been aware of the message board for a long time, this is the first time I have used it.
There is no comparison between Quatemala and Belize. North American values have not infultrated Belize long enough to mess it up. I think they have had cable TV for only ten or 15 years. Guatemala however, is a colony of the multi national corporations, you know, the Big Brothers that run the world. The people here are well instructed in greed, envy, over bearing pride and other muerte capitales.
So do not be confused, just be aware.

Estoy muy triste para la gente in Guatemala. So sad the people are being influenced by Capitalism. While I love the freedom the US provides at this time, Belize has the beauty of simplicity and that is becoming VERY rare in the world. How can we value it enough to keep the corruption out? I understand how nice it is to have electricity, but Damming the Rivers at the expense of nature and natural living makes it glitzy and not very pretty. I loved living in Belize even though it was HARD work,(washing clothes by hand) going without electricity was challenging but so many other benefits....Simple life is more difficult to find these days.

Re: NAZ beinvenidos!! - 12/29/02 08:09 PM

laugh Mexicana,
Recently I was asked if I wanted to rent a video and order a pizza? My reply, I would rather pick a coconut and catch a fish.
Granted, by the free market society we are forced to work in order to eat. But take for example a situation that happened over 10 years ago: a man by the name of Randy Weaver wanted to live alone with his wife and children in the forest of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. The Govt. did not like him living freely without paying taxes so they entrapped him with a crime by hirring a murderer to request him to alter some shot guns. The Govt. issued a warrent, went into the woods, killed his wife and 10 year old son and arrested him.
Fortunately we are still allowed jury trials and he was found innocent by his peers. Later, he was also able to sue the ATF.
So unfortunately free living is no longer allowed and soon niether will free thought. Internet sites like this will be shut down.
So pick a coconut and catch a fish and enjoy your conscience while you still can.

Re: NAZ beinvenidos!! - 12/29/02 08:36 PM

I'll pick a coconut.....hm....Cheri. laugh Sorry Girl ! wink

Soon we'll be in Belize and I don't know if we will fish, but will view them and enjoy the coconuts too !

I saw a television show, perhaps movie, that was about a family like you just mentioned. Was this situation made into a movie or am I trying to put together two totally different things? I don't remember titles well, so I can't come up with a title.

I too like the simpler things in life. I don't remember the last time we rented a video, but the pizza, it's a weekly ritual.( whether I want it or not ) wink

Welcome aboard NAZ.

Re: NAZ beinvenidos!! - 12/29/02 09:02 PM

Hola NAZ,

Yes I too followed the Randy Weaver story through the newspaper and TV, Unfortunately for people like him the laws are set up to the advantage of fearful few in the gov. The media frenzied making it worse since they only take the side of the police/FBI. The USA doesn't provide the freedom it once did. New laws are being signed daily that remove what few freedoms we have left. For example recently Pres. Bush signed laws on public service to be provided by churches, but removed the right for them to pray (go figure that) Basically government is trying to micro-manage our lives. All this brings me to the conclusion that I NEED to escape to Belize for some R&R. There still are a few AWESOME places to live in this world and Belize is one of them.

A "new" World order? I thought it was the old one that BUsh's dad started but couldn't finish cause Clinton took over.... He didn't like it much. THe one world order/economy stuff is bad for all of us! We just don't all know it yet! I am enterested to hear your take on it NAZ....I will be watching for it.

Re: NAZ beinvenidos!! - 01/14/03 08:04 PM

First, let me say that as a crusty old trial lawyer of thirty years and counting, I agree that indiviual rights and freedom in general are being eroded daily in the USA. My old grandpa, or some other wise soul, once told me that "You get in life whatever you are willing to tolerate." It sounds simple enough, but it is really profound. It is true with your kids, your marriage, your governnment, or whatever. The lesson is obvious.
If you don't like what you've got, do something to change it. Do a little, or do a lot, but do something.

Bitching about it helps a little, because it makes other people aware. However, bitching about it on a Belizian talk board is not as effective as bitching about it to one of your representatives, or better yet, all of your representatives in government.

The Randy Weaver case is very tragic, but in another way, it is very good for the nation. It shows us how government, unchecked, can do much wrong. The aftermath of resignations, firings, a successful civil trial verdict, etc., also should have been good for the nation, because it clearly demonstrates that one, lone, citizen in the United States can still prevail against the money, power, and might of the entire United States Government. It reaffirms the maxim that we are still a country of laws, and not a country of men. Even though O.J. and Bill (Zipperman) Clinton did their best to pervert our sytem of the rule of law, it still prevails. If you doubt that, just try duplicating the Weaver verdict in almost any other country in the world and see what happens.

Keep the faith, and never surrender anything to tyranny.

Beautifully said Kailani! I appologize for prolonging a conversation that could have easily been dropped...but appreciate your words about what needs to happen. THANKS!!

Re: NAZ beinvenidos!! - 01/15/03 09:44 AM

Mexicana--I didn't mean to imply in any way that we shouldn't talk about this or any subject on this forum. It is, after all, a chat board. I certainly don't think you need to apologize to me or anyone else for "chatting" about the subject. I enjoyed your comments and reading about other's points of view.

Rock on!
