New Years Eve - 12/28/02 03:46 PM

Why don't all of us that are going to be stuck at home New Year's Eve all get on the board around midnight and toast each other online? Could be fun! ( I never go out NYEve....it's too dangerous)
What do you think? I'll bring the Jagermeister!

Re: New Years Eve - 12/28/02 04:33 PM

Good Idea..........I'll give it a good try. We don't go out either ! Danger lurks, you're right. We call it amature night. smile

Re: New Years Eve - 12/28/02 05:46 PM

Definetly amatuer night!!! All us old pro's know it's better to get drunk at home, where it's safe. Relatively, anyway. I hope others join in! laugh laugh

Posted By: Grace

Re: New Years Eve - 12/28/02 07:25 PM

Good Question, how 'bout we start in EST and end in PST? :p
Posted By: NYgal

Re: New Years Eve - 12/28/02 08:59 PM

Good Idea.......gotta gettem all in there ! Coast to Coast, what fun this can be.

Hm, what to bring? I don't dare to say what I was thinking cause, well just cause! wink

Jane, you gonna be with us? Bring hot tub. laugh

Someone bring sand. Maybe an islander? or is that a "cayer?"

Re: New Years Eve - 12/28/02 10:45 PM

ny, you'll be so proud of me. i got a fancy little black beaded dress, little hand bag and got myself a ticket to the formal at the country club bash all my neighbors do every year. solo.

so the hot tub will be empty, you are welcome to borrow it.

i will promise to think & toast you all at midnight, EST.

peace & joy for the new year, friends.

Re: New Years Eve - 12/29/02 12:13 AM

SOLO ? WOW !
Hey, travel that road and bring delight into your world. Sounds like a plan in the making.

Good Luck to you. I'll make certain there is a 'limeade' toast to you.
pssst....Marty, do NOT forget that limeade !! smile
My best to you Jane.
Happiness! EST wink

Re: New Years Eve - 12/29/02 12:42 AM

sounds like man problems, Jane, my daughter is going thru the same thing. lotsa hugs are needed. we'll be thinking of you too, and hope the new year puts some miles between us and our problems, and as the worm turns it brings us great joy. all is for the better.

luv ya'll, so many people don't realize the friends that can be made without meeting...

and remember what i tell my daughter and her friends, all men are dogs.

:>

Re: New Years Eve - 12/29/02 02:17 AM

Oddly, several of our neighbors have lost loved ones in the past few years.

Marty, that 'dog' part meant something to me as I read it. They all have purchased dogs! Now, I don't mean it to be funny but, it has a catch.

There is also comfort in dogs/men. ( I guess ) but the ladies have purchased female dogs. Hm.... smile

Re: New Years Eve - 12/29/02 02:30 AM

Ok, SwwetJane, since it sounds like this might work, how 'bout this: post photos of ourselves dressed up for our avatars for NYE.....it's not hard to do. And then, you can wear your beaded dress, and so can I!!!!!! cool

Re: New Years Eve - 12/29/02 02:33 AM

One more thought,.....if you can find sand, or a hot tub...pleeeease don't lord it over those of us that can't...... :p

Re: New Years Eve - 12/29/02 04:12 AM

Oh you guys, I feel left out!!!!
I want to get all dressed up too frown . But I'll be in Belize with Butch and he doesn't want to go out and celebrate with me. So, either I'll be watching the ball drop in Times Square, or already asleep. Ya'll have one for me, and just remember, it isn't always better in Belize.

I hope you all have a very happy and safe New Years, and a peaceful 2003. You (and you know who you are) have helped me through another year... what would I do without my forever friends? Marty, you are the best for bringing this group together!!!! smile

PS: Jane, you go kick some a$$ in that slinky black dress!!! Love ya!! wink

Re: New Years Eve - 12/29/02 06:29 AM

I have Belizean sand here at my house. It's from our land, I keep it here to celebrate when I can't be there. laugh
I'll bring it out for NY Eve.
wink
ibanole, you will be with us, tune in for the 12 o'clock fun. Toast with us. Dress up for it anyway. This should be fun.
We can toast Jane out "kickin" too.

Surprises are ahead, hopefully.
wink

Re: New Years Eve - 12/29/02 06:34 AM

Hey Jane,
Sounds like we are walking a very similar path. Chin up girlfriend! Go knock 'em dead at the country club thing! I remember a ways back you mentioned that you are a deadhead. Did you see any of the Other Ones shows? THE BOYS ARE BACK!! They sound awesome!!! If you get a chance it'll do ya good to go boogie to some good ol tunes :-)Anyways I just wanted to drop a quick note to let you know that others are going thru the same thing, hell my now ex is such a piece of shit the judge gave me a 2 yr protective order and wont grant anything other than supervised visitation with our son for him and he REFUSED twice!!!!! Good Riddence I say! Well Ive probably said enough. Email me if you'd like [email protected] See ya!

Re: New Years Eve - 12/29/02 08:24 AM

wow!you remembered i used to be a total deadhead. saw them like 20 times before i was 19. i knew every pre-1981 tune they did. HOWEVER, f does not like the dead in any way, and i hardly listen for the past 18 years. he took all the fun out of it.

however, a friend recently took me to see a band called the machine, they do pink floyd covers. very good too. i dont get to see shows much. mr happy cant stay awake thru them.

to the rest of you, all those sentiments right back at you.

Re: New Years Eve - 12/29/02 09:03 AM

ok I'll be here too...we celebrate at home too. and jane my grama also told me...men are like daag gial. lol..anyway Grace if we take pic for our new avatars can we put them up oursef, or do we have to bother Marty to put them up for us?

Re: New Years Eve - 12/29/02 03:08 PM

Jane,
My ex sig. other hates the Dead too. I very rarely listened to any of "my" music over the past 10 years. Do you have any of your old tapes? Let me know cause I'll be happy to send you copies of what I have. Now its homemade CD's. Its still there for ya! Never again will I let someone else make me feel bad or inadequete over something I love. Never again. Geez, if it wasnt for my Dead experiences I wouldnt be the person I am today nor would I have done some of the things I have done. I know I would never have been exposed to having my babies at home (had 2 at home) if it wasnt for them and the wonderful gentle folks I met while "on tour". Another thing thats come back to me very recently is my own personal music. I picked up my guitar again after laying it down for most of 10 years. He just sucked the joy of playing right out of me. Thats come back with a vengence laugh I have no problem tooting my own horn here--Im pretty good. I love to sing. I need to get a hard shell case for my guitar cause when I do finally get to travel to Belize (and I Belize it will happen for me), I want to sit on the beach and play and sing. Theres no way Im leaving my guitar behind. Anyway...Im pretty sure that with the success of this past Other Ones tour that they will be touring again in the spring. Im telling ya girl they are kicking ass musically!! Cant wait for the next tour!

Capt Marty
I am actually going to be on SP for New Years eve and plan to take some digital photos, is there a way to directly attach some of them to a message to be shared to all on the board or do I have to have some kind of other site???
Happy New Year to all. laugh laugh laugh

Re: New Years Eve - 12/29/02 03:56 PM

KBG....that would be great if you could somehow post photos from NYEve...wouldn't you have to find a computer after midnight? Or the next morning? Who's gonna be open? Try it if you can. What fun. laugh

Re: New Years Eve - 12/29/02 04:28 PM

Happy New Year to KBG too !
Have a super time and thanks for thinking of us.

The snow is falling and the apple orchard trees seem to be full of birds, chirping. Nice sounds and nasty snow.

I'm looking forward to NYEve.

Good to see Mosquitorose will be with us too. Gonna get all gussied up, MR? Won't we all look funny ( at home) all dressed up and sitting behind these screens? smile

Re: New Years Eve - 12/29/02 04:39 PM

or i can send FTP directions if you would rather do that, email me at [email protected] if you think thats easier....

I set up a section on this message board for NY Eve, its ready to go!

Re: New Years Eve - 12/29/02 05:35 PM

I've got a bottle of coconut rum, One Barrel Rum and several Lighthouse beers that I haven't touched since my Thanksgiving week trip. Maybe I will crack one of them open! That is, if I cannot get up to Lake Tahoe. Doesn't look good. Northern California has had back to back major storms - lots of rain here and tons of snow in the mountains. Happy New Year all!

SweetJane, You have a bunch of support!! Count me in on that one... I guess there are quite a few of us that went through the EX-jerk-for-a-spouse thing. I'm on # 2 and have maintained my independence this time around. I come and go as I please. Looks like I will be escorting my daughter to a concert New Years But I will check in and give my greetings as soon as we return or maybe just prior. I love the idea of an online toast at midnight! Marty has it going on!! WAY TO GO MARTY!! laugh laugh wink

Re: New Years Eve - 12/29/02 10:57 PM

Just an idea...has anyone thought about a real time chat tied to this board. There use to be one but I lost the link. Does it still exsist? Or was that the Basil Jones one that sandshaker had? I have a friend who knows how to set it up and I'd will willing to run it through my pc...
Let me know if you all want this and I'll make it happen.

Re: New Years Eve - 12/29/02 11:21 PM

That chat was through Basil Jones that she had up and running.

I don't know, but I think Marty has his hands full with just keeping this forum moderated.

Of course, he may need to moderate us on NY Eve lol. laugh

Re: New Years Eve - 12/30/02 12:00 AM

If we get enough of us, marty can set up a real time chat...It could be pretty funny after a few drinks,eh? laugh

Re: New Years Eve - 12/30/02 12:06 AM

i misunderstood, i don't ahve a realtime chat program to run at this time, there is a chat room at belizeans.com, we could go there...
