Hello everyone, I'm looking for a friend of mine who moved to belize over a year ago. His name is Richard Downes. I've been trying to locate him for the past couple of months. If you can help I would really appreciate it. You can contact me at [email protected]
Posted By: sweets Re: Looking for friend - 11/13/03 07:38 PM
where is he from? where does he work? there is a richard here in san pedro that is a pilot for Tropic and he's from Vancouver, Canada.
Posted By: Pedro1 Re: Looking for friend - 11/13/03 07:53 PM
Diane once wrote it is not always advisable to say where people are as the person who is looking for someone could be a raving lunatic.
Posted By: peanut24 Re: Looking for friend - 11/13/03 10:10 PM
Actually I found him thanks. He is in San Pedro and is a pilot. We went to high school together. And I am not a lunatic. Ive known him for over 10 years and when he moved we lost touch. And I miss him alot. I'm thinking of coming down to visit him hopefully I can save up the money.

Good luck peanut!

Besides, I looked at your profile and
1. You're not old enough to be a lunatic and
B. All of us lunatics come from the states.

Thanks Kcjd. Good to know that lunatics are from the states. Where are you from??? I live in wonderful British Columbia, Canada. Right now its nice and sunny outside but im sure that will change before the day is over. smile smile wink cool
Posted By: kcjd Re: Looking for friend - 11/13/03 11:52 PM
I'm right smack dab in the middle. So MOST lunatics aren't from these parts.

I've been to BC. Why I've even walked across Capilano bridge (A.K.A. Laughing bridge).

Do you know why they call it the laughing bridge?

KCJD
Posted By: peanut24 Re: Looking for friend - 11/14/03 12:28 AM
I have no idea. Maybe its cause when you go across you end up laughing because it moves from side to side. I haven't been there. I'm scared of heights so I won't walk accross the bridge. I love living in BC, I've lived here all of my life and I don't think I'd live anywhere else. I just moved back to my home town, I haven't been here for two years and its kind of nice to be so close to home. smile smile

Posted By: peanut24 Re: Looking for friend - 11/14/03 01:51 AM
Ok I will find out why they call it that be back in a bit
Posted By: peanut24 Re: Looking for friend - 11/14/03 01:59 AM
I'm back and I found out why they call it the laughing bridge.

In 1888, George Grant Mackay purchased 6,000 acres of dense forest on either side of Capilano River and built a cabin on the very edge of the canyon wall. Assisted by two local natives and a team of horses, Mackay suspended a hemp rope and cedar plank bridge across the river. Natives called it the "laughing bridge" because of the noise it made when wind blew through the canyon. After his death, the hemp bridge was replaced by a wire cable bridge in 1903.

How was that for you?? Enough information?? laugh laugh
Posted By: toad Re: Looking for friend - 11/14/03 02:04 AM
i must go for now...when i return i will tell you the real story about the hemp laughing bridge...
Posted By: toad Re: Looking for friend - 11/14/03 03:47 AM
by the way, how did you find that so fast?
Posted By: JmHanna Re: Looking for friend - 11/14/03 04:37 AM
Toad--are we ever going to be blessed with your presence again?
Jim cool
Posted By: toad Re: Looking for friend - 11/15/03 03:47 PM
mr mackay bought both sides of the river so he could specifically build this bridge....he would invite folks over so that he could scare them into laughing---his favorite emotion...anyway, when they would arrive he would get them to walk the bridge to his 'little party'...once there, his demonstrate and share his hemp rope making abilities, telling them the bridge was, in fact, made of the very material....then after it got dark he would disappear to the other side, he would send his native friends over to tell them the good captain had taken ill and to go home...then once they were on the bridge, he would shake it until the screams became laughs

For all concerned I met Richard at Fido's last night and it turns out that peanut is a nutcase.
Posted By: peanut24 Re: Looking for friend - 11/16/03 02:53 AM
Excuse me you don't even know me. So shut your mouth. And even Richard has a few issues. Why don't you ask him yourself since you say you met him.

Totally bad move Peanut...

Ya, peanut, Isle is right. No matter how insulted you feel, you gotta watch the language. It's a family board, all ages. That wasn't a bad response, just take out that one word.

What did they say "Shoot the messenger" or DON'T

Posted By: peanut24 Re: Looking for friend - 11/17/03 06:53 PM
ok sorry to everyone for using that one word. But its true you don't even know me and I don't even know you. Do you see me mad mouthing anyone here?? No, I've been respectful unlike some people.

Posted By: peanut24 Re: Looking for friend - 11/19/03 02:24 AM
Very funny. Acutually I've been busy working so I haven't had that much time to sit a read every little comment people have made on the posting I set up trying to find a friend of mine, I found him and I don't even know why I even bothered. He is the biggest jerk. Pretty much like all guys. Right girls do you agree with me??????
Posted By: toad Re: Looking for friend - 11/19/03 02:54 AM
maybe you should get a new definition for friend....
Posted By: Pedro1 Re: Looking for friend - 11/19/03 04:39 AM
Does Pedro get an apology?
Posted By: dogmatic prevaricator Re: Looking for friend - 11/19/03 03:26 PM
Hey, take it easy on peanut. I sense her internal "little woman" is in a fragile state.

ok Pedro, sorry about what I said. Now hopefully you can do something for me and tell me what richard said. I would like to know. I won't get mad and shoot the messenger. If its really bad just send it to me by email at [email protected] That would be greatly appreciated
Posted By: peanut24 Re: Looking for friend - 11/19/03 06:56 PM
Toad, you are right. I thought I knew what friendship ment and obviously I was wrong to put him in that catagory. So what about your definition of what friendship should be like?? Please inform me, because I don't know anymore. Pretty much all of my friends use me for various things, and I can't take it anymore
Posted By: peanut24 Re: Looking for friend - 11/19/03 06:57 PM
Dogmatic, I'm not that fragile. I've taken alot of crap in my life and it only makes me a stronger woman.

AHAHAHAH now the saying goes..."fish get caught by their mouth"....let me unravel the mystery here...let's see, girl meets boy...boy dumps girl for reasons unknown...girl looking for boy (stalking?) hahahahh ...boy hiding...chances are Pedro never met Richard, but is a bit bored and decides to jerk some chains....now we all know some bad things must have happened...as the fish just told us ahhahahah...we also know it was very bad..hahahhahahah
Posted By: KWIBMF Re: Looking for friend - 11/20/03 12:21 AM
It's Dejavu all over again. I know I've seen this story played out on this board before. Girl goes to belize, meets pilot, pilot goes into hiding.
Posted By: peanut24 Re: Looking for friend - 11/20/03 12:54 AM
Actually you are both wrong. Richard and I went to high school together, we HATED each other. After high school we both worked for the same restaurant and I was his supervisor. He and I never went out. I was involved in a four year relationship that has just recently ended. Over the years richard and I had become very good friends and he actually told me before he left that he had feelings for me and I told him that I was very much in love with my then boyfriend and he left for Belize. I had his email address but lost it during a recent move. so that is the whole story.
Posted By: Pedro1 Re: Looking for friend - 11/20/03 12:59 AM
I know Richard well and he normally drinks in Fido's every friday and saturday night and for those of you who know me will agree that I drink in Fido's every night-so it would be exceptional if I did not see him at least twice a week.
Posted By: peanut24 Re: Looking for friend - 11/20/03 01:30 AM
How do we know if you really know him?? You could just be trying to get me angry.
Posted By: Pedro1 Re: Looking for friend - 11/20/03 02:03 AM
Because I know almost everyone in San Pedro-look at it this way I own an Internet Bar and two pilots are having a couple of beers with me at this very moment(example).
Posted By: peanut24 Re: Looking for friend - 11/20/03 02:20 AM
well very good for you. I hope that they are off work and not flying anytime soon, since they are pilots!!!
Posted By: seashell Re: Looking for friend - 11/20/03 03:57 AM
Pedro, did you tell Richard that you were going public with what he shared with you? If all this was shared during periods of inebriation on both your parts, how are you so sure that you have his actual attitude down pat?

And Peanut, looks like you've learned a valuable lesson about posting and sharing your life on the internet. Frankly, IMNSHO it's not always the best plan.
Posted By: Short Re: Looking for friend - 11/20/03 07:31 AM
If this misunderstanding would be worked out (Richard probably had had a few Belikens before he talked to Pedro), and this turns out to be true love, I want to be invited for the wedding! Pedro, talk to him - that's what you do best - and convince him that she's not the same girl from high school anymore!!!!
Posted By: peanut24 Re: Looking for friend - 11/20/03 07:35 PM
Well thanks for the support guys. Its greatly appreciated, but I probably missed my chance when he told me how he felt. I even had feelings for him but I was with me boyfriend at the time and didn't want to leave him and I should have then because he ended up cheating on me. I did tell richard that if he ever came home that I would go out with him or even move down to belize to be with him. I think that he was really hurt when I didn't return his feelings when he told me. I should of and I regret it now and I'm trying to make up for my HUGE mistake. So Pedro when you see him tell him that.
Posted By: Pedro1 Re: Looking for friend - 11/20/03 07:55 PM
He is in Guatemala but will relay the conversation word for word (I already know what is going to be said)when he gets back.
Posted By: dogmatic prevaricator Re: Looking for friend - 11/20/03 08:19 PM
well, so much for the Pollyanna outlook
Posted By: peanut24 Re: Looking for friend - 11/20/03 09:33 PM
So Pedro what is that supposed to mean??? I take that he doesn't want anything to do with me. If you already know what is going to be said why don't you just tell me
Posted By: yat Re: Looking for friend - 11/20/03 10:56 PM
Peanut...what an appropriate name.
Posted By: peanut24 Re: Looking for friend - 11/20/03 11:26 PM

Just thought I'd let everyone know that I found him and he is in a relationship so it looks like he's moved on. Thats good, I'm happy for him. So thanks for everyones advice and comments (good or bad) It hurts just a little bit but now I know never to do that again. When someone tells you how they feel about you, you should let them know how you feel and not let them go. frown frown frown
Posted By: toad Re: Looking for friend - 11/25/03 01:43 AM
yes, i know how that is...once i told a buddy to turn cold...he didnt...i dropped him like a hot potato, but now my buddy is wiser....i try to never let him go...
Posted By: peanut24 Re: Looking for friend - 11/25/03 01:56 AM
My room mate is setting me up with this friend of hers and he and I have been talking by emails. I don't know about that, I've never met someone over the internet before. I guess I'll see what happens. Who knows maybe he could be the one. LOL
Posted By: Pedro1 Re: Looking for friend - 11/25/03 02:54 AM
So much for true love

Peanut is so full of nuts!
Posted By: Pedro1 Re: Looking for friend - 11/26/03 01:24 AM
I met Richard today and he again, for public revision/knowledege,said peanut is totally crackers.
Posted By: peanut24 Re: Looking for friend - 11/26/03 02:26 AM
You both don't know anything about me. I will say only this Richard is the biggest JERK and LIAR. He told me so many lies. Of course I only relized them until now that I tried to contact him. So Pedro enjoy knowing him cause I'm sure when he gets the chance he will stab you in the back or the heart either one will do.
Posted By: seashell Re: Looking for friend - 11/26/03 02:30 AM
I'm pretty sure he isn't trying to get into Pedro's pants, so he's probably safe from that heartbreak.

Now I'll remind you of the advice I gave you earlier in this thread. It is not a good idea to expose your private life on the internet. Your behavior here is making Richard and Pedro look quite right about you, peanut.
