Yes, legalize it - don't criticize it. In the words of Peter Tosh. . .

Yes, legalize it.... though prospect for that is unlikely.

Re: legalize pot? - 06/23/04 06:25 PM

the fact of the matter is that people are gonna do what they want to, no matter what the powers that be say.....i know pot isn't for everyone, and i don't want grandma or trucker joe cruising the streets after a triple bong load, but laws more in line with the ones we already have in alaska could be a better approach....
Posted By: SP Daily

Re: legalize pot? - 06/23/04 06:28 PM

better a triple bong load than a case of beer
Posted By: lmarquis

Re: legalize pot? - 06/23/04 07:12 PM

That's right, Jesse - has anybody ever heard of being busted for driving under the influence of a bong hit? Lots of DUIs for alcohol though, which really is the most dangerous drug in the world.

Re: legalize pot? - 06/23/04 09:51 PM

Can you imagine how fast Belize could pay back the IMF with a real good cash crop...that's a hell of a lot of bananas and sugar.
And land prices in the interior, fageddaboutit!
Until then, I think its only legal on the beach by the library, or maybe that's just a "free-zone" or something.
Anyway, I'm not fond of tye-dye personally.

Toad-please ensure that various posters know that alcohol is legal in Belize.
should we have a campaign to ban beer that really would help the tourist trade.

Seashell, Peter was writing in British. Please do not pick on him just because he is not bi-lingual. Remember the "potatoe" scandal when our vice-president tried to write British?
Posted By: seashell

Re: legalize pot? - 06/27/04 01:21 AM

I beg to differ. When Peter writes in British, we can usually understand him and more often than not, he is also criticizing others' spelling, typing or grammar.

Re: legalize pot? - 07/21/04 04:17 AM

It's Dave Mason from a song called
We Just Disagree
Album - Let It Flow

The actual line is: There's only you and me and we just disagree.

Do I win anything? Huh? Huh?

I'm sure you guys will come up with something crazy....hmmmm...especially considering the title of this thread! Never mind! I forfeit all proceeds to D.A.R.E.!
laugh wink laugh wink

Sirena

We Just Disagree

Been away
Haven't seen you in a while
How've you been?
Have you changed your style and do you think
That we've grown up differently?
Don't seem the same
Seems you've lost your feel for me

So let's leave it alone
'Cause we can't see eye to eye
There ain't no good guy
There ain't no bad guy
There's only you and me and we just disagree
Ooh...hoo
Oh, oh, whoa

I'm going back to a place that's far away
How bout you?
Have you got a place to stay?
Why should I care?
When I'm just trying to get along
We were friends
But now it's the end of our love song...

So let's leave it alone
'Cause we can't see eye to eye
There ain't no good guy
There ain't no bad guy
There's only you and me and we just disagree
Ooh...hoo
Oh, oh, whoa

So let's leave it alone
'Cause we can't see eye to eye
There ain't no good guy
There ain't no bad guy
There's only you and me and we just disagree
Ooh...hoo
Oh, oh, whoa

Think of the money Belize could make if it were legalized. Maybe get rid of some of those shady characters that hang out by the cemetary. Just say no to crack & heroin tho.

"Just say no to crack & heroin tho."

And meth.

I'm all for legalizing pot, but I'd vote for capital punishment for the above 3 poisons. That will be the sentence for anyone who sells it to my children, anyway.

Xoc, a lot of truth to that article. Legalize pot and give the death penality to crack dealers. Problems solved. Been there, done that. Never seen a violent herb smoker or smuggler in 40 years. Never seen a non violent crackhead who needs a fix.

Whaddya mean "don't need to be high on life"?

I *am* high on life . . .as are most here. Was that a typo? (grin)

If not, then let's get collyk in here to argue it.

LOL, "collyk" . . .I just sounded that out.

What's that some babies suffer from?

Yikes, we may need another navy blue moon t-shirt here . . .and I'm also really regretting that I never took the opportunity to stay in PRH 5.

Re: legalize pot? - 08/05/04 11:22 AM

you called? seashell, since I have been written off as a 'troll' (if I am a troll may I please be the one from the Billy Goats Gruff story?)..I was not going to add to this but since you asked and since my accountant has not nagged me enough today..I'd say that I am in agreement with sweetjane here..I would be inclined to take it a step further and legalise all drugs, implement controls on them and tax them..Personally I think a society should treat all mind alterning substances which are harmful, equally. Nicotine is a nasty drug and you don't even get a pleasant hit from it, it is associated with more deaths than all of the other drugs put together and there seems to be very little moral angst amongst goverments about making tax from it..So, my view is you make them all legal, control their distribution and tax them or you make them all illegal..as for being high on life...if you can find ways to make yourself really happy you definitely have enough chemicals in your body to get you as high as any illegal substance...as for finding pleasure in the pronuciation of my name..now that is something I haven't suffered from since I was in primary school..but their nicknames were far more intelligent and creative..

Re: legalize pot? - 08/05/04 11:58 AM

seashell, NYP said "don't need IT to be high on life" lol, and I thank the Prez for his compliment, goofy is good, and a state of natural goofiness beats an induced one. :p

It is sad to know that PRH #5 is no more - NOT!

Oops, yup misread, it was late.

Guess I'd better just stick to what I know best. Singing. wink

And collyk, sorry about that, just couldn't seem to resist, since you seem to have a severe case. Besides, I don't think you were the one called a troll, but I could be wrong about that too.

Yes, lots of time to be wasted here on the board. Or is that lots of us are wasted when here on the board?

In any event, everything will make ever so much more sense to you once you've actually had your holiday in San Pedro/Belize. You'll likely find that you return to the board to be able to try and recapture what you can of the time you spent there.

Hi Jane, hi folks. I guess I'm in the right place. *L. Just thought I'd check in.
We're Cayo bound in a month. Little house by the BZ River ("Just two more old hippie gringos in Belize"?).
No turning back now. Selling everything. Been there twice, fell in love with The Jewel, researched the downsides, decided things are not likely to get better in the US in our lifetimes and we're sick of the cold unless it's on a Belikin.
Just wanted to introduce myself.
