Huge storm here on the west coast - going on 2 inches of rain here in Sacramento over the last day and much more coming. My plans for New Years in Lake Tahoe with my friend are not going to happen due to blizzard conditions. Those 60,000 plus partiers are going to have to carry on without us! So, I'll check in on this party NYgal.

How do you guys save those Belikins and One Barrel for so long? My stash is usually gone within a couple weeks after I return (usually by friends and family members). Oh, and I made the mistake of offering some construction guys who were doing work on my house, some One Barrel.
Posted By: klcman Re: New Year's Eve Thread - 12/31/04 05:31 AM
Special Things for Special People at Special Times, that's how wink

Some time ago, tucked way back in the dark recesses of the frig , where green things frequently grow, I discovered one last "nectar of the Mayan gods" left from quite some time ago.(maybe 2 or 3 trips ago)

DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME - if it's been there awhile (and God knows it's blasphemous to keep one so long)do not attempt to open & consume. That sucker virtually exploded in a brown syrupy goo all over me.....what a mess! Good thing Mom doesn't live here!
Posted By: LaurieMar Re: New Year's Eve Thread - 12/31/04 06:17 AM
Yes, KLC, you are right: I need to learn the art of conservation of my special stash! Now, I am stuck with domestic spirits, Tequila and Mexican beer (yes, imported, but if you are in California, it really isn't). Next best thing. Guess the only remedy to running out is to return to Belize. I always bring my Jose Cuervo with me on vacation, and haven't yet met a local at my hotel there that refused a shot!
Posted By: klcman Re: New Year's Eve Thread - 12/31/04 09:05 AM

Happy New Year all! Still raining cats and dogs here in Northern Calif.

Denny: That would be cool if we broke off into an island in the Pacific! No flooding, but tons of snow in the Sierras - too bad you can't get up there from here!

Hi Hope: Aloha and Haoli Makahiki Hou (think that is how you say Happy New Year in Hawaiian). Think you guys are the last to ring in the new year after us on the west coast. Talked to my friend in Kahana last night for a couple of hours. He says they are getting lots of rain lately too.

Grilling steak and shrimp here and having a glass of good Merlot. Decided to let Jose Cuervo take a rest tonight!

Greetings and Jappy New Year from beautiful San Pedro. We did have a little liquid sunshine last evening but all in all it was a delightful time. The queens held court at Casa Picasso last night and we only ran off one table of tourists who probably should be allowed in San Pedro anyway. Lovey was in rare form so it made for an eventful evening. Best of all, te food was to die for. Our dear friends, Chris & Jen had a special menu and even found a place for us all to gather and we have too many blonde queens I think that can't make up their minds as to where we're all going to go until the very last minute. But I'm here to tell you that we could ot have chosen a better place. The best shrimp bisque you have EVE put in your mouth. They had a specail menu (which I wish they would do once a month) and everything was awesome! James (our waiter) took very good care of us as he always does, and the entire wait staff was great. The very best diry martinis on the island come from this bar and Trevor kept up with us! If in your visits, you haven't been to Casa Picasso, you have GOT to go. By the way, be sure to order the cracked coconut for desset and tell Chris I sent you as I get a commission (yeah, right) but no kidding, it is sinful and wonderful at the same time! Wow! Wish you could all have been here for it.

Something happens to the keyboard every single time we open too many bottles of wine replaying the events here on the island....come join us soon!

laugh laugh That's exactly why I didn't post last night after wine..... wink
Posted By: denverdan Re: New Year's Eve Thread - 01/02/05 04:31 AM
Hey Lady D,
I'm not blonde anymore so give me a call the next time court is being held. I'll make the decision of where the Queens are to dine even if I can't be with you all. Although... I must add... that I too LOVE Casa Picasso and 10 ta 1 you would be dining there a bunch!!! Any "coronations" comin up that I should want to attend??? Have you seen Pam lately?

Aloha Ms. Vicki! How was the game???

HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL once again from soggy Maui! (Sure glad I'm not a tourist here this week!)

NY, don't scrutinize my post as I'm drinking a bit of wine right now! wink

Didn't quite get to the sock drawer here, but did get the entire house clean, laundry done and even worked today at home. Was also good at being a lounge lizard on the couch with a movie marathon on TV. Nothing much else to do when you are sick and its pouring rain outside. If I were on AC, I definitely would have been at Casa Picasso. Yum. Love that place! Instead, I got to listen to the fireworks through Hope's phone in Maui last night!
Posted By: denverdan Re: New Year's Eve Thread - 01/02/05 08:16 AM
Them fireworks still be bammin here Laurie!
Oyyyy, Tylenol PM... please... take me away!!!
I'm not gonna say Happy New Year again, I'm afraid this bammin will go on for weeks if I do!
Kona winds and firecrackers tonight... uugghhh. Guess it will be a light sleep tonight, a dirty street tomorrow and NOT a beach day either. Poor poor Hopie! Got anymore cheese klc???

I knew a woman a few years ago that moved to Hawaii. She was very excited about the move. She moved, got a job, settled in, but after 6 or 7 months she was ready to move back to the mainland. She saw everything there was to see, and said only so many hours to go sit on the beach.

How are you finding island life Hope?

Denny,
Thats a loaded question for Hopie.... She's on the wrong darn island!!!!!!
Her friends, her "family", the Queens, etc ..... they aren't in Hawaii. We miss you Hopie!! (I doubt we want to know what her phone bill is, she has called me several times.... from the beach!)
Vicki

Good morning Ms Vicki and Happy New Year, now get your butt back down here! And dear Ms Hope, we toasted you and thanked you for a great dinner. Someone said it was your idea to get the check and I should warn you before you open it that our bar bill far exceeded our dinner bill. We couldn't remember by that time, if you were buying just dinner or both, so we just signed all the checks and gave them to Chris. He said he'd collect from you and tell you that you sure missed a Queenly gala.

Lady D---
I'll be there Wednesday for dinner!!!!
Can hardly wait!
Cheerz!
Posted By: denverdan Re: New Year's Eve Thread - 01/03/05 09:19 AM
Ya just had to offer me "that" particular cheese klc??? Ya got me all sappy now cause I've got memories linked to that chees...

To dream... the impossible dream...
To fight... the unbeatable foe...
To bear... with unbearable sorrow...
To run... where the brave dare not go...
bla, bla, bla and so forth...

Actually... THANKS klc! Those memories are GRAND! Good thing I'm not drinkin wine tonight too or I probably would have posted the whole dang song! HA

Denny,
Ms Vicki is right, this is not my favorite island and never has been. Of all islands in Hawaii... if I "had" to live here (lol) I'd choose Kaua'i I think. Maui and all the Islands here rock when your a tourist and we've rocked them several times prior to moving here. Dan has always loved it here though and he be my man. Unless... ya want to marry me at Caribe Island and take me away from this big ole rock city? Huh, huh, do ya, do ya, huh??? wink
We do spend a lot of time at the beach when not working and I don't tire of that (even though I'm more of a pool and boat kinda gal). I DID finally tell Dan the only way I can "beach it" again is if I can get a laptop so I can work from the beach. hehehe All I need now is to purchase a "connection" for it and I'm rockin again on the board during normal hours and can finally e-mail people again as well! Yaaaahooooooo, it's getting a little better everyday! (Hey, can anyone give me good suggestions of a "connection" to buy so I'm on line everywhere on Island?)

Lady Dee, I feel privileged and honored you would even consider me paying the bill for the Queens Court evening out held at Casa Picasso on New Years Eve! How totally sweet of you all to think of me!!! Thank you!
However...
I already sucked up BIG TIME a couple of years ago! lol I do however know a wannabe (or two or three) who would be more than happy ta pay for the Queens night out! I'll forward the tab on from Chris and we'll see if they REALLY want to play! cool My treat when I'm on Island next time though!!! I very much look forward to it too! laugh

I wanna be there Wednesday!!!
Here we go again... poor poor Hopie! frown wink
