Reggae Rising 2008 - 02/27/08 07:22 PM

Reggae Fans: I received e-mail today about this. 156 days and counting down - Humboldt, August 1-3.

UB40 and Black Uhuru are 2 bands that will be there - I can't miss it this year!

Is that the same as Reggae on the River? I mean, Reggae on the River got the punt, so is this the replacement?

Used to be ROTR, but $$ finally crept into a wonderful program and it fell apart. The original organizer's of ROTR changed the name to RR.

If you have the opportunity to attend, you really should. This festival is amazing.

Once in my life, I have to get to 9 mile on Bob's birthday weekend (February 6th)

We missed it by a week in 2006, but the idea of thousands making their way up that twisty road to his birthplace and Museum is as close to a pilgrimage as I will ever come.

There is nowhere I have ever been where I've gone 24 hours without the sights and sounds of Mr Marley, one of the great men of our time

SIN, I planned to attend last summer, but work kept me from it. My partner in crime for that weekend, hooked up with another pal and they went without me. They had an absolute blast and it's on the agenda again for this coming summer. Even better for me now, my sister just moved near San Francisco. See ya there. Want to organize a group camp sight? LOL

Sounds like a plan.

Work has ALWAYS kept me from going and it is only a 3 hour drive north from my home! LOL Since it is on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday this year, I think I can swing it. Don't do the camping thing, but hope to see you guys up there!

Geez, all motels I have called are sold out. This happened to me before when I tried to go!

Rent an RV or if you aren't can't camp out, go for the day. Camping (w/ little sleeping) is part of the experience. Last year we camped directly adjacent to the shower house. It was a great show in many aspects.

Reggae on the Reef would be a nice event.

Re: Reggae Rising 2008 - 03/07/08 04:24 AM

LOL.

I am still trying for places. Think you have to buy a ticket for all three days of the festival. I am NOT driving an RV. Yikes, that would be scary! I would be willing to drive to the venue each day, even if I could find lodging a bit north, south, west!

They initially advertised Black Uhuru and now I don't seem them in the lineup - really like that band.

Arcata, Eureka, & Fort Bragg are all pretty close.
