Full (Worm) Moon

Full (Worm) Moon - 03/10/09 06:38 PM

WORM MOON: Tonight's full Moon has a special name--the Worm Moon. It signals the coming of northern spring, a thawing of the soil, and the first stirrings of earthworms in long-dormant gardens. Step outside tonight and behold the wakening landscape. "Worm moonlight" is prettier than it sounds.

Re: Full (Worm) Moon - 03/10/09 10:32 PM

It is actually the 11th, but full at 2h 38m GMT (while you are sleeping tonight, so likely the reason for the article stating "tonight")

Re: Full (Worm) Moon - 03/10/09 11:36 PM

Isn't 02:38 GMT actually 20:38 the previous evening (ie. tonight) in Belize? Not many people will be abed at that time.

I saw the moon at around 4am this morning here in England, and weak and cold it looked. Quite eery in fact.

I hear rumour that there will be another full moon party tonight at the Catamaran Bar. Actually it is not a rumour at all. I hear there will be another full moon party tonight at the Catamaran Bar.

We saw the moon come up here about 7:30 last night and it was beautiful here in SW Missouri.

Re: Full (Worm) Moon - 04/09/09 08:47 PM

We have a beautiful moon here in Texas this week. It is visable from around 4:00 in the afternoon in the East.

Ms. 2Ag's received a nice telescope last year and we love to look at the moon in the evening. Since we live away from any city no ground light.

Wish I could see it from the beach though. frown

Re: Full (Worm) Moon - 04/10/09 12:04 AM

Various names -

Apr. 9, 10:56 a.m. EDT -- Full Pink Moon. The grass pink or wild ground phlox is one of the earliest widespread flowers of the spring. Other names were the Full Sprouting Grass Moon, the Egg Moon, and -- among coastal tribes -- the Full Fish Moon, when the shad came upstream to spawn. This is also the Paschal Full Moon; the first full Moon of the spring season.

And last, but not least, Catamaran Bar Moon
