It's all in your head

It's all in your head - 12/29/10 09:03 PM

A study at University College London in the UK has found that conservatives' brains have larger amygdalas than the brains of liberals. Amygdalas are responsible for fear and other "primitive" emotions. At the same time, conservatives' brains were also found to have a smaller anterior cingulate -- the part of the brain responsible for courage and optimism.

Does this mean conservatives are nothing but scaredy cats? Hmmmm

That is absolutely the dumbest statement I have ever read. It was probably meant only for Liberals who are known to be shallow thinkers. wink

This does not really seem to be an Apples to Apples comparison, as the study of conservative brains was conducted by Neurosurgeons, while liberal brains could only be studied by Proctologists laugh

Naa, I'm just sitting back watching you wind yourselves up into mobius strips of logic. Enjoying watching you attack the messenger rather than confront the message, like usual.

That whole thing about facts have a distinct liberal bias seems to be true once again. Fear isn't truth.

Re: It's all in your head - 12/30/10 05:27 PM

I wonder how that study explains a Liberal who has been mugged and then becomes a Conservative? Maybe during the dramatic incident a chemical is released and it changes the brain? Just wondering laugh See if you can find the answer to that in another brilliant study.

By the way, I know this study wasn't done in the USA but was it done with Stimulus cash? crazy So much to ponder and so little time.

I guess if you are eluding to the fact that many normal thinking Americans are somewhat fearful the country is being run into the ground by liberals with their heads up their a$$es, you may have stumbled onto the truth for once smile

How many of you normal thinking Americans are there......4 or 6?

"The latest CNN poll also asked voters whether they hoped President Obamaís policies would succeed or fail. Overall, 61 percent said they hoped his policies would succeed; 27 percent admitted they hoped his policies failed."

Right.....

"But thatís just liberal CNN, right? Well, not quite. It turns out that CNN also asked that question after the 1994 takeover of the House by Newt Gingrich and the Republicans. In that poll, 50 percent of Americans said the GOP takeover would be good for the country, while just 26 percent said it would be bad."

Re: It's all in your head - 12/31/10 02:53 AM

That you would cite a poll that gives Mandella and The Dali Lama 3% between them as evidence of how well informed the CNN audience is has me smiling just a little smile

Do I want his education policies to succeed?

Yes, if it means underserved communities can graduate functional members of society...

No, if it means pouring more good money after bad into failing school districts with no sign of a different approach to education?

Polls donít mean much unless you ask the same question several differing ways......

Do I wish the country well....you betcha....

Do I want socialism and more central control.... NO!

What has me smiling is the fact that you're referencing the Gallup poll and not the CNN poll. wink

If you go to the bottom of the page and click on the "methodology" link you would see that the pollsters asked the polled the question...and they chose their own answers. Some chose relatives or friends. So much for your attempt to defame the poll.

As far as the fact that they selected GW Bush over the Dali over 2 to one only shows that they polled folks with your political bent too wink

Re: It's all in your head - 12/31/10 05:25 AM

Yeah ..ya got me....

Just because I read "A CNN Poll" and then clicked on your link.... I should know better and read ALL the fineprint when dealing with a true believer wink

What the Poll did seem to show is that whoever was the current US President would automatically win out, and I suggest that shows a lack of ability to distinguish achievement from popularity by many polled regardless of political affiliation.

Of course, this was only for "living" people, or there would be some other great names to consider.... Gandhi, Mother Teressa, Churchill...all of whom would probably have finished behind the great Jimmy Carter if the poll had been taken in 1978!

Funny thing about Jimmy Carter. He's done more for world peace after leaving office than any republican ex-president, ever.

The Carter Center has also virtually eliminated the Guinea Worm from impoverished areas in east Africa.

So.... I'm curious which democrat ex president you would put ahead of him on the "world peace" list.... Or are you just incapable of writing anything without taking a shot at republicans?

I don't think there can be any dispute though that Mr Carter is far better as an Ex President than he was as a President, even though he's also an embarrasment as an Ex President smile

I notice you just rambled on without actually saying anything.

Let's see, Nixon left office a disgrace and never was seen again.

Reagan left office and never thought he did.

Sr Bush left office and went on a speaking tour to make some $$$.

Clinton left office and went on a speaking tour to make $$$.

Jr Bush left office and tried putting words together into complete sentences, wrote an autobiography using others recollections, and went on a speaking tour to raise $$$.

What is said here (chat) is of no real concern. Half I agree with and the other I don't. But this banter we do is a prime example of why our Congress and Senate is forever stalled in the deepest mire known to man. Yikes!

So if he did more than ANY EX PRESIDENT, why say "any republican ex president".....you just can't help yourself can you? ...its how you are programmed crazy

And what I said, as you seem to be having a problem with a reasonably simple premise, is that Carter sucked as a President and sucks as an Ex President, as his meddling in affairs of State is very un presidential, even though some of his charitable and foundation work is admirable.

If any of that is too complex for you, send me a PM and I'll try once more to explain without annoying all of the other readers....

Happy New Year by the way....Kool Aide at midnight?
