Is creation a viable model of origins in today's modern, scientific era? Leading creation apologist and bestselling Christian author Ken Ham is joined at the Creation Museum by Emmy Award-winning science educator and CEO of the Planetary Society Bill Nye the Science Guy.

Ham, a former science instructor who emigrated to the USA from Australia over 25 years ago, is joined by the popular children's program personality Bill Nye "the Science Guy" for this first and only scheduled debate. Each man delivers what he believes is the best information currently available for his case. Each then had an opportunity for rebuttal and afterward answers questions submitted by the audience.

I'm confused - what is the relevance of this video to Ambergris Caye?
I ask the same question every day about the "crap" thread.

I can understand this debate since it is somewhat related to general education, although my view is that there is little to debate. However, I totally agree about the crap thread, neither side for which there is really 3 or 4 people on either side make much sense since it is totally about whether you like Obama or not. Neither side will even consider anything other then what they already believe to be true. Relevance to Belize is not even marginal.

huh....I thought PEOPLE lived on and visited AC. There actually may be a few inquiring minds
living on the island that may desire to improve their knowledge of the world we live in.
Just a thought! smile

Now...come on...you know you guys are over there everyday checkin' it out. There has to be some socially redeeming value going on there through all the nonsense and banter and I'll bet you're checkin' out WCRAP music videos just for a tune now and then...come on...admit it. smile
Its all in fun anyway! wink

I'd like to see the debate but it's taking 13 minutes to download. Don't know why.
Posted By: klcman Re: Bill Nye Debates Ken Ham - 02/09/14 09:20 PM
that is because it's nearly a 3 hr broadcast
Posted By: seashell Re: Bill Nye Debates Ken Ham - 02/10/14 01:35 AM
Geez!! Guess I won't be watching it.

Rykat, Belize people very passionate about their politics and issues affecting us. Percentage of voters in Belize much much higher than in the US. And what happens locally, regionally and internationally has much more impact on Belize than the political polarization in the US. In fact, most posters on chat represent a small segment of the US voters cause last time I looked, Obama was elected President of the US twice. So who is out of step here?

We have more than a dozen Intl news stations from which to cull info and form opinions.

How refreshing to have something other than CRAP on the active list for Chat. Unfortunately the thread is once again hijacked to discuss US politics.

It's kinda like this - when I go to the grocery store (internet) I go to the dairy case (AC.com) for cheese (info on AC and San Pedro) ........ if I go to dairy and constantly find mostly dog food, my reaction is that the store manager either has unusual marketing ideas or cannot control his staff - and I won't be visiting that department again. IMHO this US stuff has diluted the focus and impact and search-ability of the site, and therefore its usefulness. It seems that there are fewer relevant posts these days in general - there is very little on the "chat" thread.

I am appalled more often than not by discussions on that page and wish there was a disclaimer noting the posters do not live in Belize nor do they reflect the opinion of Belizeans. It reflects more poorly on Belize and the caye than crime news does.

Amen. Nobody is checking the Crap Site on a daily basis, it's shoved in your face every time you click on Active Topics and you can't help but see it.

Perhaps we should require residency papers to post in Chat.
Posted By: seashell Re: Bill Nye Debates Ken Ham - 02/10/14 09:55 PM
History on ambergriscaye.com dictates that if the crapsite outlet is removed, the crap spills over far more into our preferred threads. Perhaps the choice should be to make the crapsite less prominent and also bar it from being searchable.

Generally, relevance and audience appeal is the name of the game, and my sense is that unfortunately the message board is loosing both.

Perhaps Marty will have a re-think on this stuff, but if not we are stuck with it.

You do have to admit it is at least correctly named...

Censorship? No, just garbage control. Yes, its aptly named and Marty has enough experience with this to know crap site is the perfect disposal page for the inane and useless.

Do Marty and the rest of us a favor and delete that last disgusting post of yours.
