I am Soooo Happy to find this discussion Board!

Let me introduce myself: My name is Julie, I'm a 45-year-old grandma
in Minnesota. My boyfriend, Wes and I have been extensively
researching Belize, and would like to move there. We are planning a
two-week visit in November to scout things out. We plan to spend a
few days in Corozal, then Orange Walk and Placencia.

We plan to investigate rental housing, employment possibilities,
business oportunities, availibility of services, etc.

Can anyone tell me anything about the availability of prescription
medications? I am cancer patient (in remission :-))on Aromasin and
Toprol. I'm also wondering if my Medica Health Insurance will be
acceptable.

Any ideas?

Julie,

Many prescription medicines are available in Belize, at least in Belize City and in larger towns. I don't know if your particular medicines are or not; if they are not commonly prescribed, I would not count on it. Your foreign medical insurance definitely will NOT pay for any medicines or any kind of care in Belize, unless it is a special policy written just for expats.

Since you are going to be in Corozal Town, you might want to hop over to Chetumal. San Francisco or another store may have your medicines at fairly low cost.
