is there any one out there that can tell me how much it costs per SQUARE FOOT to build in san pedro
Depends on a few factors. Distance from town, materials used, whether or not you need a cistern etc. But roughly a basic concrete house reinforced with steel rebar, glass/vinyl windows, ceramic tiles will cost between $100 and $150 US per square foot.
It also depends on what your contractor is like. We have built here and learned the hard way. Feel free to PM me.
I paid $246.00 US per square foot for my condo in 1995.
renski,
Our Casita (3.5 miles north of town) ran approx. $185.00US per sq. ft. in 2005. collyk hit the nail on the head. PM her if you are considering building on the island.
A condo sale includes the cost of land within the square footage price. Condos on the beach typically run around $300 - 350 US per sq ft.
Yes indeed the builder you choose is a huge factor when it comes to cost overruns too.
Bermuda Landing just across the cut.

I guess I made out okay.....we're right on the beach and had IMHO one of the best contractors on the Island........Chris Barenfanger.....
For clarity are we quoting cost to build or cost paid to purchase a property?

Has anyone heard of a contractor named Mr. Camal? Any feelings good or bad? Names of reputable contractors are appreciated. Thanks everyone.
Is his first name Daniel?
Yes, his name is Daniel Camal. My wife and I are moving to Belize ( permanently ) in Nov. and will build a home on property we own south of town. We hope to meet some contractors when we come down for vacation in July. I'm just looking for info on reputable builders. Thanks for any input you may have.
Daniel Camal built our house and we are very happy with it. I won't be here in July, but I would be glad to chat with you regarding construction. You can send me a pm.
frankspop, I sent you a pm so check your private messages
We would like to build an elevated basic home, about 600-700 sq. ft. inside with large porches (of course). Preferably concrete, raised 10-12 feet, large bathroom or combo mudroom/bathroom, Open living, with 9-10 ft. plateline. Basically a box with high ceilings. What kind of costs can we expect?
frankspop, we hired Daniel Camal for a project, he was very professional, on budget and on time.
