ABOUT BELIZE
AND
ACTIVITIES

Belize (formerly British Honduras) is located between Guatemala and Mexico. The country offers a wide variety of tropical and historical adventures as well as possibly the best diving and snorkeling in the world. Belize is also famous for its fishing, Mayan sites, tropical rain forests, the only jaguar reserve in the world and a wide variety of bird life and flora, not to mention the friendly people.

Belize has been self governing since 1964 and independent since 1981. The government operates on the British two-party system and has been stable throughout its years as British Honduras and Belize. The people are a combination of Mayan, African, Hispanic, Caribbean, European, and North American cultures.

Other than eating, fishing, snorkeling, hiking and sunbathing, a few of the activities and tours which can be arranged are:

  • River trips to Altun Ha
  • Day picnics along the coast
  • Diving* and/or snorkeling at Hol Chan Marine Reserve or the Blue Hole, among others
  • Inland tours to Tikal, Xuanantunich, Melchor, Mountain Pine Ridge
  • Deep sea or reef fishing
  • Light tackle fishing (fly fishing)
  • Glass bottom boat trips

Snorkeling at Mexico Rocks

Scuba Diving-

Don't forget your "C" card. Our divers are picked up at the Green Parrot for one or two tank dives. Suggest you bring your own gear. If not, the dive boats can rent to you. A two-tank dive ranges from $45 to $55.

There are great dive locations, caves, drop-offs, walls, etc. For the more ambitious divers, trips to the Blue Hole and Lighthouse Reef can be arranged. This is an all-day event. It takes close to two hours to get there by boat. Three dives cost $150.

Snorkeling

Bring your own mask and fins. A few of the dive shops will rent equipment, but it is best to bring your own.
