Caracol ruins at night
This image was taken during an overnight at the Maya site of Caracol in the Chiquibul region of Belize. Because of the long time exposure (5 minutes), the stars have formed streaks in the sky. The reason the temple of Canaa is so bright, is because the light of a near full moon was shining bright that night. Not long after this shot, the moisture in the air began to condense on the lens. So I put the camera gear away, climbed to the top of the temple and spent the next 2 hours listening to the jungle sounds from the top of Canaa...no flashlight necessary.
