A perplexing Sunday morning
I have this friend of mine George the Cubano. He grew up Cuba and in his youth he and his dad bred and worked carrier pigeons. He moved from Cuba to the US and then to Belize where I met him 10 yrs ago or so.
To this day George still loves those carrier pigeons but there are no hobbyists doing this in Belize. George would always go back to Cuba at least annually to see his dad who was 90 years old and healthy. Last week he received some terrible news that his dad had passed away unexpectedly and obviously George was very sad over this and that he had not been able to see his dad for the last time.
Sunday George had plans to go to a friends place down the beach from us to help prepare a Sunday beach cook out. 20 minutes before he arrived a pigeon flew right into his friends kitchen and stayed there. The friend called George when he arrived to help her get 'the bird' out of the kitchen. As soon as George saw the pigeon he recognized it as being a high quality carrier pigeon. When he picked it up he noticed it was banded and 600 miles from home. These are the pics I took.
