Iguana Jack
It was in 1975 that John D. Westerhold's (Iguana Jack) adventures landed him in Belize. Jack quickly found a beautiful country and people that were so creatively inspiring that he has called it home ever since. As he sketched and painted some of his favorite people and places, Jack established the very first art gallery in San Pedro in 1980 to display his finest works. Today as Belize continues to change,Jack is still very busy painting and sculpting images of the Belize he loves to call home.

Ramon's Pool in 1982

The San Pedro I remember:)

Wasn't it great!

if only we had genie :)

I remember them digging the hole for this pool.

I liked Ramons better then than now! There was a big water tank that became the later the nice pool.

Ramon's was the New Year's place to be at the bar with possible falling into the pool!

I remember trying to comprehend a saltwater pool..till I saw tourists freak out over seagrass..+ I played for hours in this pool..this is where I met Jimmy Buffet I believe..and ate my first ceviche (Remember I lived @ John Grief's next door :-)

At ramons.... we saw him J. B. at Ramon when Harrison Ford was here and met his sis and when played that night I kept asking for Pencil thin mustache and he had no piano and came to talk to us for quite some time His sis was a hoot..ans she was on his boat that was here then. A really good time was had by ALL........

ahh yes..Jimmy Buffet and his "push me pull me"plane....lol

It is still flying to Honduras from Belize...not sure if it is the same plane but it is a sea plane...Gerald Leslie is his pilot in Belize and Honduras

Thanks for the info Lincoln ....

My father built that pool in the late 50's for Vern and Terry Hammond.

That is corrrect Ron...the Hammonds use to own that property under Reef Colony Ltd b4 it was sold to Ramon's...very wonderful folks...the Hammonds...

I must be thinking about a different pool if this was built in the late fiftys unless it was refurbished around 79/80?

It could be he same pool Jim. It was never actually used when it was built for a pool but rather its use remained as a cistern...we use to play as kids by that tank until it was refurbished by Ramon's. Another similar one existed where the Sunbreeze Hotel now is...
