Dolphins sometimes travel as much as 30 miles up river. I have seen them (and manatees) as far May Pen.
Actually I have seen dolphins as far up as Grace Bank area. They are mammals like whales so salinity might not be a big problem for them. But then again I recall in my young days diving in the Belize River and the water at the bottom (15-20 feet down) was salty.
