Lower Dover Field Journal
Lower Dover Field Station is located in the Cayo District just 1/2 mile off the Western Highway at Mile 59, in the Village of Unitedville in Belize, Central America. Our 100 acre private reserve sits on the Belize River, between Big and Little Barton Creeks. With exotic jungle forests and water on three sides, Lower Dover has the feeling of being its own rainforest “island” full of wildlife and wonder yet still close to civilization. Best bird watching times: 6AM and 4:30PM

Jade Garden in San Pedro, about 1998

Man i LOVED their food.... and the caye lime pie... oh goodness gracious...

The Jade Garden Restaurant first opened for business in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye on September 1, 1981. It was located within the old Barrier Reef Hotel, formerly known as the Blake House and is now the Heritage Bank, situated in front of the town’s municipal pier. This family owned restaurant was managed and operated by Sue Wong and her mother, better known and remembered as Mama Sue. Mama Sue ran the kitchen and produced mouth-watering dishes of Cantonese cuisine, steaks and seafood and caye lime pie. In 1990, the Jade Garden relocated into its own building about a mile south of town center. Business continued, as usual, until Mama Sue retired in 2005.

Egg Roll Heaven! 6 bucks BZ for two Giant ones... A quart of Mamma Sue's Won Ton Soup for goma! Can't count how many times that soup worked...made the mornings happen... lol... I remember seeing Mama Sue sorting the rice grain by grain. Sue can still cook a mean meal!!!
