Spanish and Maggie (Jose Pacifico & Margarita)
Maggie married Jose Pacifico, better known as Spanish, in 1981. She is a talented artist in painting and music.
I remember when Maggie and Jose fixed up the place, I remember the wedding..I remember the first pig roast, when I ate a pig Fi and I had fed..Fiona trying the chicken feed because she figured if it wasn't good enough for her, it wasn't good enough for the chickes..And I remember making Enpanadas from the shark we caught with a hand line ...somebody asked Fi and I to hold the line..Then there was the marrionette making...still can't hear "Ain't she sweet" without being transported in time to San Telmo! We had a privilaged childhood!
When I was younger, I used to go with my friend Coffey to spend time with Maggie on Saturdays and learn various things - guitar playing, cooking lessons, crafts like making pinatas and costumes. We'd go swimming at Mar de Tumbo as that is where they lived with Don Severito, who played a mean trumpet. Some of my best childhood experiences were because of Maggie.
Fiona Elliott: Coffey and I used to hang out on Saturdays sometimes with Maggie and she would teach us some art, how to make a pinata, or empanadas. We fed their chickens and went swimming at Mar de Tumbo a lot.
Here are a few other photos of Spanish taken over the years...
