Fragments of Hope
(coral nurseries in Belize)

To re-seed devastated reefs with genetically robust, diverse and resilient corals that will mature to spawning age/size, and at the same time begin to understand the biology and mechanisms of coral bleaching (i.e. the role of the coral host versus its symbiotic algae, the zooxanthellae when it comes to resiting or recovering from bleaching events)

Old St. John's Primary School before the 1931 Hurricane

I was a student there, upstairs was for the infants, Nellie Tucker was the principal, downstairs was for std.2 to 6, Principal was Mr.Bowie, very good teachers like Father Lloyd Taylor, Sybil Reyes, Ms. Willoughby, Ms. Meggs, Ms. Bailey (now Ross) Ms.H enderson (now Miller), sweet memories, underneath was our playground, the backyard was where the 1st St.Johns Credit Union was housed with Cancy Christie as the Manager

This building was situated at the site where Esso Fuel Bulk Storage (today's Puma Bulk Storage) sits adjacent to the Port Of Belize.

During the 40's and the 50's they were upstairs of The VOGUE, corner Queen Street and North Front Street. Then they moved to Hone Park.

The first college was in Yarborough (Yabra) my grandfather used to talk about walking to school as a boy from Eve St. where he and his mother and siblings lived.
