Lethally demure. An arboreal predator, the margay is seldom seen in Belize
This is a beautiful little cat.
Margay - Cholul
Margay is one of the animals found in Belize and in Yucatec Maya is known as Cholul or chul ya. The margay, also known as the long tail spotted car, is similar in appearance to the ocelot. Its body however is smaller, with longer legs and tail. The margay hunts almost exclusively by night and it's prey includes birds, small monkeys, tree frogs and insects which inhabit the forest.
Margays have the ability to climb and jump up to 12 feet horizontally because it’s ankles can turn 180 degrees to grasp the branches. It’s a beautiful cat and is one of the five cat species in Belize.
