Man and his horse on the way to the train in Griga with bananas to be shipped away, 1930. Also the train full of bananas in Griga, 1920's
Dangriga was known as Stann Creek at that time.
Well this is quite interesting. I was transferred to the Banana Industry in 1974 to become the Office Manager for the Riversdale Company that actually represented the FFyes Company in England I was sent to study for 8 years in Lima Nueva Honduras the Operational center for all the affiliates Banana Companies in the World . I was graduated as Operations Manager and Director of Quality Control and return back to the Banana Industry and trained others also become quality control inspectors I resign in 1982 for personal reason and for what I stood up for my promise to the workers I had trained. No one wanted to see me leave but it was worth it because after a certain period of time what I had stood up for was implemented and guys I had trained was give their rightful place in the Industry. And looking back I knew I had set a Precedent that Belizean should be given priority first before hiring of foreigners if they are worthy of the position that is vacant. Joseito Sosa
