Structure N10-27 after the 2001-2003 TDP restoration -- this is the area of the structure where the people in the above photo are located. Note that only the fractured base of Stela 9 is seen in the photo above, but a replica of the full height stela was placed in the same location when the reconstruction was completed.

Lamanai Stela Temple before reconstruction, with Elizabeth Graham

This photo is from Lamanai Field School 1998. This is the year Dr. Elizabeth Graham started as the PI of Lamanai. Liz is on the left, Dr. David Pendergast is on the right. Others include archaeologists, students, and local helpers -- Karen Pierce, Norbert Stanchly, Gary, Laura Howard, Claude Belanger, Thomas M. Shelby, Mark Shelby, Estuardo Arevalo, Stephen?, Melissa Seldon Knight. The fractured base of Stela 9 is in the location in which it was discovered at Structure N10-27.

Since 1998 Elizabeth Graham has been working to improve the storage conditions of the artifact collections that are housed at Lamanai in order to preserve the cultural heritage of this important site for future generations and to make the collections more accessible.

If you are in Belize at Lamanai you can give a cash donation to our trustworthy local colleagues in the village of Indian Church, Brenda Arevalo or Sonia Arevalo, who work with us at times on the archaeology projects at Lamanai. Otherwise see for other easy ways to donate.
