Jaguarundi seen at a camera trap
The camera traps are in Northern Belize - Hill Bank and Yalbac at the moment. Adding La Milpa and Gallon jug soon. In general they are pretty small. Our cameras are knee height or lower. They are coloured kind of tan and or a reddish tine, as they have a grey phase and a red phase. I believe it is a similar gene combination as the one that causes melanism in jaguars/leopards and back stripes in cheetahs.
We don't often get photos of jaguarundis on our camera traps in Belize, and when we do they are usually poor quality. So this photo is a really nice treat!
