Scouts in Loyola Camp 1950s
Scouts moulded young men into men, and young women into strong women.
Belize City had many such groups for males, as well as for females. Boy Scouts, Sea Scouts and Boy's Brigades, and Girl Guides and Brownies. Many of the Districts also had their scouts and brigades.
A scout received a lot of training. - Physically and Mentally. PHYSICALLY - A scout went through drills, short and long distance marching and camping. At camps they were taught Camp making - Fire lighting, Rope tying and other chores, like wood cutting and communicating by Morse Code, Hand Signals and Fire signalling.
MENTALLY - A scout had to do mental excersices, reciting and singing. - Scouts grew in Rank, by performance.
