Nesting turtle on Halfmoon Caye on the Lighthouse Reef Atoll
Aided by brillant light from a full moon, Oceana photographer Alex Ellis was able to capture this sacred moment in nature.
Beaches are important nesting grounds for sea turtles. They return to the same beaches they hatched to lay their own eggs. Half Moon Caye Natural Monument provides nesting beaches to three types of sea turtles: the Green, Loggerhead and Hawksbill turtles.
