Two scarlet macaws who were rescued from poachers
In our life time these birds may become extinct if we do not protect them from depredation.
Illegal wildlife trafficking (IWT) is a threat to wildlife species. Annually FCD has learnt of losses of macaws to IWT since it is difficult to cover the entire range. At this time we know of active zones. The monitoring and enforcement work continues.
