Pocket Guide of the West Indies, Printed 1907. Pages 148-155. British Honduras: The Belize BRITISH HONDURAS 153 Golf Club, which was established in 1900, has a nine-hole course (subscription $1.25 per month and $10 entrance fee).
My Great grandfather, Dr. Cran, was instrumental in developing the golf club; it is believed that he was the first one to hit a golf ball in Belize.
When Belize Sugar Industries was established in Orange Walk Town,Tate & Lyle, a beautiful private golf course was created for the mostly English staff that lived in the gated compound. The early seventies and eighties saw a lot of the British forces senior officers and friends enjoying golf at BSI.No Belizeans that I can recall were invited.
