Leaders of Barranco with Premier George Price during his visit in the 1960's

Top photo: Reginald Avila is beside the Premier, he was a teacher. Left is Shoot (aka Thunda aka Lorenzo Nolberto) who was in charge of cleaning all the government yards in Barranco. Next to him is Candido Arzu wearing his farm clothes. The policeman was PC Peter Antonio. He was the policeman in Barranco during Hurricane Hattie in 1961. Next to the policeman is Henry Loredo. Far right is the farm demonstrator--either Frank Arana (who served in Barranco first) or So Castillo, who followed Frank Arana.

Jeff Alvarez: I didn't know there was a pier by d police station

Peter Castillo: There was one there until like in the 70s. It was moved to wher it is now ...not sure why, but it probably had to do with the shallowness...but then again, by moving it further south, boats had to pass over/near a huge concealed (underwater) rock (called Whitidoub) dat at times would damage their engine. The Engish soldiers eventually placed some dynamites under it and blew it up to pieces.

Harriet Scarborough: When I was a child and we just had sailboats transporting people to and from Barranco, the wharf was where it is today in Panyaton. Then in the early 60s, the new wharf was built closer to the center of the village, right by the Police Station. You could really see the red cliffs then since that area was pretty high. It was a nice entrance to Barranco along with the lamp that Shoot was responsible to light ever evening. And since it was north of Weiriti Dubu, boats quit hitting it, unless they were headed to Temash or Sarstoon. When I visited Barranco in 1975, that's when I found out that the wharf had been moved to where it is now.

Cynthia Martinez: I see Yoa Shoot. Pa, Candido Arzu my grandfather. My great grandfather, Henry Loredo, Uncle Georgie, looks like Mr Marin at the end.
