Descending on the Black Hole Drop
For the thrill seekers, Caves Branch’s ‘Black Hole Drop’ is a uniquely adventurous and awe-inspiring hiking experience. It starts with a 90 minute steep uphill hike into the foothills of the Maya Mountains and into the upper edge of the sinkhole. The edge of the Actun Loch Tunich sinkhole sits over 300 feet above the basin below, and 200 feet above the rain forest canopy that grows out from its basin. If you’re looking for an adrenaline rush, this is the experience for you. Give into exhilaration and bask at the natural wonder beneath your feet! Not to mention, it’s just a short ride back to the lodge for a dip in the pool with an ice-cold drink. Don’t worry, you’ve earned it!

We hiked for an hour to the rim of a sinkhole in the jungle of Belize. We then lowered ourselves down 300 feet into the bottom of the sinkhole.
