Maya Mountain Research Farm
Mission: to research and demonstrate – within an ecosystem context (just like a natural ecosystem, an agricultural ecosystem’s ability to function with integrity is based on the composition and interconnectivity of its constituent organisms) – locally appropriate (to southern Belize, lowland humid tropics, and its specificities such as limited road access, limited grid electricity, extreme wet and dry seasons, hurricane potential, etc.) alternative technologies (such as renewable energy and green-building techniques) and sustainable agricultural techniques.

British Honduras Executive Council 1895

Seated Left to right: Benjamin Fairweather, Sweet Evert, Gov Alfred Malaney, McKenney.

Standing Left to right: Connor, Logan, Young, Maxwell, Rosado, Price.

The Governor was Sir Alfred Maloney. His wife died in British Honduras from yellow fever shortly after they arrived. Mr. Fairweather got onto the council as a black man, he owned property and he was also a very outspoken man. His signature appears on the currency of the colony.

The Price in this picture is an English man, no relations to George Price. But more related to Hector Silva's wife's Grand Father, Mr Chichley Price and M.r Ralph Price, former Commissioner of Police.
