Premier George Price and Charles B. Martinez Sr. visiting a rural school in Toledo in the 1970's
The late Charles B. Martinez Sr. shown here (far right), was the Principal of a rural school in Toledo when Premier George Price visited in the 1970s. This village seems to be Crique Sarco. The lady holding a baby next to Mr Martinez is Maria Ack Cal, the mother of Rhea Alvarez-Estell, holding Rhea's sister. Herman Camelot is also in the picture. You can see Ruben Canelo, Luciano Bo, Maria Cal. The police man was John Guzman.
The adult female beside the policeman in the back was the late wife of then Representative Charles Martinez Jr. who was part of the Premier’s entourage.
Genevieve Flores:
Maria Cal was Rubens sister Alicia and Ofelia two older brothers Pablo Cal and Thomas Cal they were Don Mariano step children.
Hector Silva: GEORGE PRICE THE MYSTYRIOUS MAN.
THE MORE YOU THINK YOU KNOW ABOUT GEORGE PRICE, THERE IS SO MUCH MORE YOU DO NOT KNOW. - George Price will always be a Mystery.
Many say, "I knew George Price well, but when you ask them how WELL ? They answer, " Well I spoke to him. - " I saw him in Mass, or " He was my neighbor. - Or I travelled with him once.- Or " He shake my hands. "- etc.
ALL of that is good. But there are qualities in him, which you had to be there at the moment.
How many knew that he was a good swimmer ? Well, Whenever he visited Cayo on an extended tour, he, Hon San Perdomo and myself used to go to the Macal River below the Hawkesworth Bridge and take swim races. He used to beat us.
How many knew that George Price was a good horse rider. He even liked Horse Races. He even owned Race Horses, among them ''Don Juan."
How many knew that George Price could drive a Bulldoozer, and could handle one Machete. Once when he visited San Ignacio, while we were passing men who were chopping grass, he stopped his Rover and told me " Mayor that man doesn't know to chop. " - He asked the man for his machete, he bend his back and said, "This is the way to chop. you don't chop while standing.
How many knew that George Price was a lover of Music, from the classicals like Beethoven to Boom and Chime, and Marimba. But his FAVORITE was, to hear Joe Moreno and his TRIO sing, " RELOJ NO MARQUES LAS HORAS. " ( Clock Stop marking the Hours. ) - ( For him time meant a lot. )
George Price was both a super Organist and a super Typist who could type something, while he conversed with you about something else. This was a FEAT o his own.
His Sharp Memmory had no Rival. But he still carried lots of old envelops cut in pieces to take notes when people spoke to him. He use to say, "Don't trust your memory all the time. It will fail you when you least expect. "
AND THERE IS SO MUCH MORE TO SAY ABOUT THIS SUPER MAN. ( Until another time. )
In the book I wrote about him, before he died and VETED by him, I listed many of his brilliant decisions on the spot. The Book was Titled. " THE GEORGE PRICE LEGACY. "
