Queens in front of the Union Jack, 1940s in San Ignacio, Cayo. Maria Orfelina Sullivan: My beautiful mother Teresita Galvez Matus standing up on the right & Ms. Lillette Habet sitting down on the left.

Faith Babb: Crowning of “Miss Independence” at the Memorial Park, long ago. Either the person to be crowned was beautiful Yvonne Robinson (he one without the crown) or she crowned the new “Miss Independence.” She was Miss Independence 1963. Yvonne Robinson was crowned by Miss Avilez from Stann Creek (now Dangriga). Yvonne later crowned Martha Marin. Photo by Belize MusicWorld.

Beautiful ladies. Rita Lewis was the wife of Dr. Clarke and a teacher. Dr. Clarke had his practice on Regent Street. They would have to be around 90 years old by now. Ms. Effie is still alive, she is now Mrs. Effie Blease.

Hurray for ALL Queens of the Bay, as well as to those who compete, and wasn't selected. They didn't lose, they just weren't the lucky one to be selected.

Maureen Young: Yvonne Roblison won Miss Belize the same year I won Queen of the Bay (1963). So Miss Belize was started in the 60s.

Yvonne MissBelize: Yvonne Roblison 1963 the year Belize got Self Goverment, I was lucky to award a trip to New Orleans, I also captured the title Miss Independence. There were two Partys, PUP in power and NLP. Each held their own pageant.
