The chute by Vaca Falls for transporting mahogany logs, long ago
Many people have heard of the chute, by Vaca Falls, but know not what it was.
This was a mechanical contraption to transport the mahogany Logs, along those Mountainous areas, along the Macal River behind the Benque Viejo Area.
The Logs were brought from the inner Jungle, by train to this high elevated spot. From up here they were tied by cable and released mechanically to the Macal River below.
Then the floods would float them away to the Burrel Boom, and then to the waiting ships, at the Belize City Harbor.
Logs were released down the chute, held by cable rolled on a cylinder.
