Mayoress and Area Representative conduct ribbon cutting ceremony at ferry ramp

Civic improvements continue in San Pedro, with the recent rebuilding of the southern access ramp at the Boca del Rio ferry. Additionally, three families across the river cut now have running water in their homes. Funded entirely by the San Pedro Town Council (SPTC), the inauguration of both took place on Monday afternoon, and opened with a special blessing by Lay Minister Lucio Guerrero of the Roman Catholic Church. The ceremony concluded with speeches from Mayoress Elsa Paz and Area Representative Manuel Heredia Jr.

These developments are part of a continuing effort by the SPTC to provide "better services to the people of San Pedro." The ramp costs totaled $14,000, while the cost to provide water service totaled $30,000. The Diaz, Turner and Rancheran families in the Boca del Rio Area stated they have been waiting almost six years for this development and are ecstatic to have running water in their homes. They anxiously await the installation of electricity, a $75,000 project, promised for completion in July. Through this medium, the families would like to extend their utmost gratitude to Mayoress Elsa Paz, SPTC and Area Representative Manuel Heredia Jr. for making their "utility" dreams come true.

This is not the end of the civic upgrades to San Pedro Town, as the SPTC assures the community it will continues to take small steps towards providing a better resort town. Already this month, a $25,000 refurbishing project was completed at the Five-A-Side court, as well as a $13,000 fence provided at Ambergris Stadium.

The SPTC would like to encourage residents to express their ideas for town improvements at an upcoming quarterly public meeting planned for the end of this month.
