This past weekend, the San Pedro Polyclinic II received the generator, which had been scheduled to arrive on the island since last year October. Along with the generator, the Polyclinic also received a 500-gallon fuel tank, both very useful pieces of equipment, in case of "blackouts."
The San Pedro Polyclinic II is undergoing three completion phases. Of those three phases, phase 1, the actual construction and build has been completed. At this present moment, the Polyclinic is fully equipped with water, electricity and central air. Phase II of the project is underway. This phase consists of actually stocking the Polyclinic with everything it may need. Aside from the generator and fuel tank, this week, the polyclinic saw the installation of cabinets and sinks throughout the building.
The San Pedro Polyclinic II will be fully equipped with a reception area, waiting area, laboratory, pharmacy, separate children's and adults' ward, emergency room, dentistry office, doctor's and nurse's lounge, administration offices, and restrooms.
Phase III is the actual opening of the Polyclinic and the estimated time of completion for this phase is February 15th, 2005. The San Pedro Health Center, all its staff and equipment will be moved to the Polyclinic shortly.
