With a mission statement to help the needy members of the community, the San Pedro Lions Club received international recognition as they were selected as one of three finalists for the International Academy Awards presented by Lions Clubs International in the Club of the Year category.
Also up for one of the coveted awards is San Pedro Lions member and immediate past president Lion Milo Paz Jr., who is up for the Lion of the Year Award.
The award ceremony will be held in Hong Kong on June 29th, 2005. The Lions Organization is present in over 190 countries, with 300,000 clubs and has a 1.5 million person membership. Indeed, San Pedro being nominated for two of its most prestigious awards is an honor.
