The San Pedro Sun is proud to introduce its newest colleagues to the #1 Newspaper on Ambergris Caye. The San Pedro Sun welcomes Maria Novelo, Mary González and Nathalie Manuel to the family.

Maria hails from Orange Walk, the “Suga City” where she attended Muffles Junior College. In October, after receiving an associate degree in Secretarial Science, she moved to Ambergris Caye to live with her aunts and pursue her career. Her first job on “La Isla Bonita” was at Casa Cayo Real Estate, and she started as a staff reporter at The Sun in March. Ms. Novelo has easily applied her writing skills to the news media. Quick to accept a challenge, she was eager to write her first story, which featured the Lady Sharon. Just recently Maria felt especially honored to report on the passing of Pope John Paul II, and it’s impact on our community. She brings to the paper an enthusiasm for sports, along with a youthful outlook on life.

Mary, originally from the Cayo District, moved to San Pedro with her parents nine years ago. A graduate from San Pedro High, Mary attended St. John’s Junior College where she obtained an associates degree in Computer Information Systems. After completing her degree she took employment with Vicky Nelder, while continuing her education at San Pedro Junior College. After working for Vicky she then took a teaching position at the RC Primary School. For the next 18 months she taught at various schools on “La Isla Bonita.” In 2003 Mary took a position at Gecko Graphics, where she had the opportunity to develop her graphic design skills. An accomplished writer and public speaker, Mary decided to embrace her talents and join the professional team at The San Pedro Sun. Combined with her flair for graphic design, Mary’s abilities will be a great asset to the growing needs of The San Pedro Sun.

Nathalie is a recent graduate of San Pedro High School where she majored in Accounting and Office Procedures. She has been a colleague of The San Pedro Sun for the past five months and is responsible for the classifieds, newspaper sales, and all the day-to-day running of the office. Nathalie brings to The San Pedro Sun a fresh, young attitude to the work place, always greeting customers with a smile. Responsible, hardworking and willing to work, she is a most welcome addition to the newspaper.

The San Pedro Sun is delighted to add these talented, energetic ladies to our staff. Along with long-time senior staff reporter Kainie Manuel, The San Pedro Sun is well equipped to provide the community of San Pedro with a top-notch newspaper.
