Mayor Elsa Paz traveled to El Salvador to accompany her mother who underwent surgery. While at El Salvador, Mayor Paz was visited by Mayor of Antigua Cuscatlan, Licenciada Zoila Milagro Nava. Antigua Cuscatlan is one of the most prominent municipalities of El Salvador, located five miles from San Salvador.

Mayor Licenciada Zoila Milagro Nava offered to work with San Pedro Town and form a sister city relationship with "La Isla Bonita." This new "sisterhood" signifies that both cities would share their cultural, scientific, social and industrial product, on a national and international level, with the main purpose of strengthening the ties of solidarity.

Mayor Licenciada Zoila Milagro Nava will visit San Pedro Town in October to meet with Mayor Paz and her councilors along with Area Representative Manuel Heredia Jr. to finalize details of the sister city relationship.
