Last year was quite a year for Sergeant Dennis Myles. Not only was he named Police Officer of the Year, but he was also promoted to Sergeant in the Belize Police Department. This year is also quite exciting for Myles; he was recently transferred to the San Pedro Police Department. "I want to help San Pedro take back the streets from criminals," Myles told The San Pedro Sun.
Myles has served in the Belize Police Department since 1993. For the past two years, he served in the Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) in Benque Viejo del Carmen in the Cayo District. Sergeant Myles has received extensive training including training from the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). His areas of expertise include finger printing, preserving a crime scene and finding critical evidence when a crime has been committed. Myles said he played a critical role in solving the recent murder of security guard Antonio Almendarez which occurred at Fido's Restaurant and Bar.
Myles said he has a concern that the public does not want to confide in the police in order to help fight crime. He has even offered his cell phone number in case anyone wants to report a crime or any concerns directly to him, confidentially if necessary: 601-8008.
The San Pedro Sun welcomes Sergeant Myles to our community!
