Press Release – San Pedro Town Council – Tuesday, May 16th, 2006 – Attention all lovers of sports fishing – the Annual Dia de San Pedro Fishing Tournament is just around the corner. The San Pedro Game Fishing Association has met to discuss this much-anticipated event which has been scheduled for Saturday, July 1st, and Sunday, July 2nd. The Council and organizers both feel that this tournament could serve as an attractive calling for fishing aficionados countrywide and abroad, and at the same time pay tribute to Saint Peter who was a fisherman himself.
The winner of the event, based on Most Poundage, will receive $3,000; second place - $2,000; and third place $1,000. Prizes will also be awarded in other fishing categories including Top Junior Angler, Top Female Angler, Heaviest Blue Marlin, Heaviest White Marlin, Heaviest Kingfish, Heaviest Tuna, Heaviest Sailfish, Heaviest Wahoo and Heaviest Dorado.
